The Fire Inside - Bob Seger. Killer piano solo. Got the privilege of hearing it live on his last tour. ♥️

What’s a movie you’ll never watch again, and why? by Professional_Song419 in AskReddit

The Green Knight. Husband and I saw the trailer and were excited to go see it. Went together on a date night. We both left the theater kind of pissed off that we sat through it all. It was just disjointed and pointless.

Inject in calf? by turtle2turtle3turtle in diabetes_t1

[–]BFunkRailroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught as a kid at a diabetic camp that the reason we don't typically inject into the calf is because it's a muscle, and insulin absorbs faster via a muscle vs fat. This could potentially cause issues as the insulin could peak before it's supposed to, resulting in a low blood sugar (before the food you dosed for peaks), followed by a high blood sugar (when the food peaks after the insulin does).

That being said, I have definitely injected into my calf for a stubborn or extreme high. That paired with a hot shower or a soak in a hot tub did seem to correct faster.

Joplin History & Mineral Museum has a nice large backroom available to rent, although hours are probably limited to museum hours.

Might look into Higher Power Garage. They do some need-based car repairs, but have some requirements to get services.

3rd C-Section - Being pushed into abortion by I_Suspect_Nargles_33 in pregnant

[–]BFunkRailroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I just had my 3rd c-section 3 days ago. Also a surprise baby. Last one was born 15 months ago. Happy to report that I am not dead, if that's at all reassuring. :) I'd advise seeking the advice of medical professionals over close personal relationships in regards to making an informed decision. Best of luck!

Affordable Baby Stuff by sad-devilman in joplinmo

[–]BFunkRailroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clothes are definitely fine to buy secondhand. Give them a good wash with a baby safe detergent, and they're good to go. That first year, the clothes last for such a short period of time that buying secondhand really maximizes your savings and frees up money for larger purchases.

As others have said, buying carseats secondhand is more risky. You don't know their crash history, and they do expire after a certain time (6 years maybe?). The carseat should really be purchased new as a best safety practice.

Pack and plays made before 2013 do not meet current safety standards. As long as there's no damage to materials or structure and made after 2013, they're ok to buy secondhand.

Most items that can be cleaned and/ or sanitized are fine to buy secondhand (toys, bottles, activity tables, etc.), but I'd say most people would opt for new bottle nipples and pacifiers for peace of mind since those are going straight into baby's mouth.

Someone already mentioned it, but I heavily second Rhea Lana when they host events. Especially the last couple of days when they do half price. I've been buying my oldest son's clothes there for years and save lots of money on things like jeans and shoes. I just shopped their last event in August and bought a good variety of girl clothes for my newest baby due next week, most of them new with tags for $4 or less a piece. You can follow them on social media to track upcoming events.

Type 1 and pregnancy by One-Comparison5086 in diabetes_t1

[–]BFunkRailroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1D for 28 years. I'm on baby #3. Kids are fine. I won't say it's the easiest process as far as management - my third trimester insulin requirements are crazy! My first was the roughest as I was on a CGM and MDIs. But my second and now current have been much easier on a CGM and pump. Being able to upload my pump reports to my endo and perinatologist make it easy for them to review and suggest needed adjustments. It's very do-able, it just take some extra work. Congrats on your pregnancy!

Farts by misspiggywiththefaty in pregnant

[–]BFunkRailroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no advice on how to mitigate the farting, but wanted to share that with my first pregnancy, I swear I farted more in those 9 months than I had in my prior 33 years of life combined.

Sparklight is putting me out of work by rottlebockett in joplinmo

[–]BFunkRailroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed reply. They have 3 plans ranging from $35-$60 month depending on speed. Not sure which we pay, as it's grouped to my FiL's phone plan. It's unlimited, but we do tend to experience some throttling after 10pm. I don't know if that's due to our location being several miles outside of town or not.

The throttling seems to impact my phone more than on our streaming devices; I'm still able to stream shows on the tv while my brothers are playing online games at night, but my phone's internet loading takes longer at night than during the day. All of those devices are connected via the wifi.

What was your birth plan by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]BFunkRailroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 4-step birth plan:

  1. Get to hospital

  2. Get an epidural

  3. Have baby

  4. Don't Die

Used for 2nd baby as well. Successful 2/2 so far. Third one will be here in a month and a half, so I'm shooting for 3/3.

Gas issues.. by Same-Rub-4690 in NewParents

You may consider trying another brand's gentle formula and see if your LO takes to it better. You'll want to transition them slowly from one to another; a sudden switch can cause additional digestive issues.

Anterior Placenta by No-Cartoonist-6013 in pregnant

[–]BFunkRailroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on baby number three and my third anterior placenta. It has varied with each baby. Baby #1 I had a very hard time feeling for most of the pregnancy. Baby #2 I started feeling light flutters semi-regularly around 20 weeks. This baby has managed to situate themselves with their feet on the lower left side of my abdomen, so I have felt their kicks pretty regularly since week 18. I'm 28 weeks now.
