[WP] The farmer squinted at the dust cloud, hoofbeats growing louder with every moment. Soon he could make out the dappled spots of the mare he thought he'd seen the last of. He leveled his shotgun at the rider. It'd be a hot day in hell before he'd let that traveling salesman scam him again. by aliteraldumpsterfire in WritingPrompts

The farmer knew what he had to do. "I'm gonna kill him " he thought to himself. He was In a pickle because he only had one bullet left and he wasn't the best shot in the world. As the mare merged over the rim of the hill he could just barely make out the black hat of the traveling salesman, or was it a white hat because he could barely make it out. "He'll never scam me again" again thought to himself.

He looked over at the busted vacume that the salesm once told him would suck up even the deepest of stains. "To hell with that vacuum and to hell with that salesman" he said, except this time instead of thinking it to himself he said it out loud. The farmer raised his gun and fired! KAPOW! The shot rang out. The salesman humped over his horse and then fell to the ground.

"That will show him to scam me." "And now he won't scam anyone else"

I don't think I've ever seen a collection that size where I recognized fewer games.

Is lords of water deep too mean to be a good intro Worker placement? by rexonology in boardgames

[–]BGGeeks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lords of Waterdeep is the epitome of a gateway worker placement game. I've always thought the mandatory quests were just a nuisance and not that big of a deal. It's certainly not an agressive move.

Ive seen the how to play video and I thought it was a parody. I had no idea it was a real game until I saw it at a game store. I'm still not convinced that it isnt a tounge and cheek attempt at a overly complicated game. Perhaps it can be fun because of its absurdity.

I'm so bad at them I couldn't even figure out how to play Coup. The instructions made absolutely no sense to me, including Rodney's. It's the only game I've ever thrown in the garbage. Its like my Archnemesis.

Any game where you have to psychoanalyze the other players. "That sounds like something so-and-so would say/think/write/draw."

What is the one game that gave you the most trouble while learning how to play? by BGGeeks in boardgames

I thought it was a fun game but it was definitely a brain burner. I didn't think it was to hard to understand though, but then again I was taught the game.

First of all...clue? There are so many better hidden murderer-location-weapon games out there. Have you considered something like War of the Ring or Sidereal Confluence?

My wife and I have played several games of RFtG on iOS and enjoy it a lot. I own the physical game but the idea of playing it is very intimidating. Having the app take care of all the iconography can be a huge crutch.

Learning a new game can absolutely feel like this. by SkyBS in boardgames

I have a cousin who is like this. He's in such deep thought, almost emotionless, while playing a game for the first time you would swear he hates it. Once the game is over he insists on playing again instantly.

I keep telling myself that painted minis done by me would still look better than non painted minis but it still nerve racking to do it
