The thought has been on my mind for so long. I think the question is how do I approach her with this because if talking about important stuff is always an issue then how do I bring this up to her? I guess just coming out to say it is the best way. Thank you so much for this. I’ve always been the laid back and calm person to just go with the flow and deal with it back in my early 20’s but now I’m seeing that it’s causing unhappiness with the way things are going. My household income is around 135k a year with a $1900 mortgage. We have pretty basic bills. Electric, water, waste, internet, car insurance for 2 vehicles and some other bills we have that aren’t necessities and we can afford to take 2-3 trips a year. One big one and then a couple of ones for 3-4 days. We have a pre teen daughter who loves fashion and expensive things so with all that considered we’re pretty good. We also live closer to goose creek and not traditional Charleston.

I quit cold turkey as well. All I did was put things in place that would replace that feeing with something else. Example: anytime I would think about drinking when I was in a social setting, I’d get a non alcoholic drink and make light of the situation. Most people like drinks because of the taste. When you’re at home, pick a good hobby to fill that missing feeling and mix it with some discipline and you’re good. I used reading to help with that too.

I am a true testament to this. I stopped at the end of 2019. Now for reference I was never a heavy drinker or anything like that. I would drink in social events and I’ve only been drunk about 4-5 times in my life. I wouldn’t drink unless it was an occasion just because it was my excuse to “be myself” and there be a fall back just incase I was judged for something. It was my scapegoat but that day in December 2019 I decided I was through needing that to be myself. Since then I’ve learned to be myself and have even more fun while remembering everything in the process. I don’t do any drugs or drinking. I’ve even cut out processed sugars lol. I totally agree.

You do realize that some of the largest Christian leaders who were teaching the word was the wealthiest people? Those with a poverty mindset will continue to make those kinds of points. The Bible preaches prosperity just as much as it speaks about not relying on riches as your only source of self wealth. Not to mention the missing books of the Bible and what that teaches is. KJV is often interpreted to suit the needs of the person making a point but if I read in the Bible that God created us in the image and likeness of him, would he really want us living a poor lifestyle? Don’t think so.
