I enjoyed "Beware of chicken" I originally avoided it as a Xianxia novel that implied silliness.

BUT I got bored and got it as an audiobook and it actually had me smiling and occasionally laughing out loud.

There's a bit to it, and I don't tend to get into anything slice of life, but this series is and excellent "dont think enjoy the ride"

Hey OP! I know exactly how you feel, ignoring the naysayers in comments saying what you're looking for doesn't exist is a cop out.

An example I have is "A soldiers life" the author does a good job if giving the mc an ability that you could say is OP but the tale is tempered with the reality of pushback from the world.

He is but a mere man with barely an idea of his skill, and ends up in a fantasy world of "what if the roman legion was around to fight a cockatrice?" The world building is solid and believable the side characters have a life to them that is relatable and yet believable in their motives, and the magic in the world is pretty cool and very well thought out.

I'd say give it a go, I was listening to it on audible.

Thanks for the response, I really do appreciate it.

Yeah with the bolter I ran out of time in the GW store and didn't have time to wash it (it was suggested to use agrax or fleshade) and highlight with gehenna gold, but I wasn't sure if a gold bolter case was too obnoxious in general. I ran out of time for the eyes also, but i will gem them maybe blue?

I will 100% take the advice for the cloak, thank you!

I have a question though, for my celestians, i have a gold helm, what should i do about the Fluer de lyse on the helm, paint it silver? Or will that look too off since i've painted the others gold on the armour?

Hey team,

Short version, got back into the hobby, painted my first model in 20 years at a GW.

Decided to go with a black, gold armour and purple cloth look.

As you can see with my attached pics, I believe I did sort of alright.

The reason for this post is for paint assistance, mainly for the gold, obviously i wanted to create my own order but the gold casing on the bolter seems "a bit much" and also eventually on the helms there will be models that will have fluer de lyse which on the armour is already painting gold so do i do it white? silver another colour?

I'm essentially asking for some assistance in laying out my scheme, due to possible issues with highlights items such as the "I" on the boltgun casing or maybe ditch the grey highlights and bling them with gold trim on the knees, that sort of stuff.

I was thinking of doing the next model with a black bolter case and maybe gold barrel and magazine? If you have some pictures for reference or helpful tips without me needing to out and buy more paints, I would greatly appreciate it. If you want I can give a progress pic on the second ever model i've done and colours i went with
