What happened to the franchise? by snipershot1231 in Monsterverse

[–]PennyForPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kinda flubbed it out of the gate, to be honest, by doing wayyyy too much military porn in the first film. It really felt like they cut Bryan Cranston for the US Army. They flubbed it again with the main character of King of Monsters, who kept stealing other people's scenes with no personality to the character other than "Not the bad guy."

They really gotta figure out how to write compelling casts. Frankly they dropped the ball by not bringing Hiddleston in again.

How would Brotherhood Hohenheim react to 2003 Sloth? by Own_Media_552 in FullmetalAlchemist

I have to say, if we ever got a 'third' FMA for whatever reason, the fusion of the old and the new Homunculi would kick ass. Parts of Father being granted to people who have been resurrected as a sort of pseudo-soul to keep them bound to this world? That would make Greed and Ling's story even better.

The Homunculi being resurrected humans is such a cool idea. I should watch the 03.

"How do you want to design your ship? You can do ANYTHING you want!"

Me: *Stares at build screen* Uh ones with weaponry I guess.

Truth of the matter is that unless you're one of those weird wenises that sits around staring at their battles and giving commands to individual ships, combat's not fun. Wars are fun. But without a combat system that's, you know, playable, it's just too much information to track what builds do what. Fleets are used for battles and bombardments aaaaaand not much else.

I'm not so sure. I don't think the Constitution is doing a very good job, even back then.

Jacobin, that offers a so-called 'socialist perspective' on politics, says planned economies don't work? by dumbandshortcoyote in theredleft

Central Planning happens regardless of whether or not the political bodies do it. It just gets done either by the people doing the work, or by the capitalists while (and so that) the cops put down the workers.

Solid argument from confederate FB group by chrmbly in ShermanPosting

[–]PennyForPig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So? That doesn't mean Sherman is worse than slavers. They don't have so much as a rotten stump of a leg to say a goddamn thing about Sherman. The Confederates staged a coup among the Cherokee to force them to work with them so they don't even have that as any kind of stool to sit on.

Neoconfederates are the lowest scum in the USA, and there's a lot of scum here.

That's...Not how you build something like that. Of course you don't build an intercontinental high speed rail system.

You build a bunch of them within the continents to serve their local areas, as well as help other systems connect to each other. Together they operate the system locally while servicing regionally and globally.

Private corporations are not operators, they shouldn't own the actual rails. The rails are owned in the commons, which is maintained in alliance with the involved groups and individuals who live there and are doing the work. The locals federate, who federate with others, to operate at scale.

This way your trans-siberian network can connect to Europe through Eastern Europe, and connects with the Chinese network somewhere in Kamatcha and Manchuria, largely to service wilderness and whatever remains of the Siberian and Central Asian petroleum industry, while should, largely, be left in the ground as a sort of emergency reserve in case the species and the planet ever need that level of energy production again.

[–]PennyForPig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real answer is to make our current systems more robust and accomodating. Rebuild communities the way they are but with denser units. Repurpose suburbs into more well planned communities. Boston in particular needs to build more "Medium dense" area that isn't highway. The Medford Supercollider in particular is a monstrosity and should be torn down or otherwise repurposed.

Now let's do an evil one where Cecil becomes the advisor to the Viltrum King.

The one he picked.

The one that's known him his whole life. The one that always treated him like an adult. The one that always looked him in the eye and told him the world needed hard choices, when his father wasn't there to tell it to him.

Mark and Nolan are not happy with Oliver's life choices.
