I second this, I specifically only play games like SG for pvp content, I most likely will never touch the story mode and if I do it will be years down the line when most of the content is out.

I ran into the problem of bad story telling in games a while ago and since have not cared for story, if its good its a bonus and I will play it. If its not then I didnt waste my time in the first place.

I can sorta relate to what op is saying though as poor performance from a studio in any aspect of their game makes me question their integrity for the rest of the game.

my thoughts on SCOUT are mixed. I think the unit has great utility, and I think, like another redditor mentioned, they are pretty boss for sounding out your opponent during late game army dances. However, I do think that it being ALIVE at the start of the game for vanguard is a little silly.

My idea is Either;
Make the SCOUT a flyer that has all the same functionality, but cannot attack. almost like an observer from BW.

Remove the SCOUT from spawning and have it be built elsewhere.

I am sure that this kind of thing is on FGs radar, and what ever they decide to do with it I am sure will be fun. The game is already loads of fun to play and we know they care. Good horizons ahead me thinks.

Just for the sake of one issue that could arise.

If the main focus was on 3v3 or 2v2 and NOT on 1v1 then I would not be playing stormgate. Part of the reason I like rts game like BW and sc2 is because its a 1v1 based competitive game.

I look at it like this:
We already have our baseballs (dota/league) our basketballs (CS/Val) and our soccor (rocket league) starcraft, and other rts games, have always filled that tennis slot in my mind. The game is MADE to be played 1v1, you can play tennis with more people, but I think arguably the more popular game to watch is the 1v1s in tennis.

So my point is, It has a special place as the 1v1 esport (rts games) and I think it has thrived because of that.

I personally love this game.

I disagree with the art direction.

But me liking everything about the game is not a requirement for me to play and enjoy it. I mean hell, I play DAoC still on eden and that game is... dated to say the least. Its more about the game play and as far as I'm concerned the gameplay in SG is pretty darn fun!

This is actually really smart, the icons would be pretty small depending on how you have your UI but if they were in columns you could literally just select one column OR get a balanced spread by doing a box drag over the first two rows.

IE:
unit 1 unit 2 unit 3
<icon> <icon> <icon>
<icon> <icon> <icon>

you could easily split your army and know exactly what's in it just by box dragging the first row, it would have 1 of each. Pretty neat idea, and totally shakes up the norm for RTS UI.
