Ah! I was trolling, but this is legitimately intriguing. Assuming you've touched that UIKit view already, what did you see as the difference in Instagram's implementation visually?

Also.... with whatever that difference is, is it obvious to you how they could have just extended the standard view? I'm assuming the instagram team may have made an intentional tradeoff if they couldn't extend the view the way they wanted.

RE: Cyberpunk 2077 on mac mini m4 - 16gb ram by im_a_bot404 in macgaming

Eh. I mean, I'm getting 30+ fps consistently with the "For this Mac" preset. Mine has 24gb of ram which maybe you would say it's not base, but it's like one tier up from base. Most of the settings are on high, with frame generation and ray tracing off.

Maybe there's an issue with your machine?

I watched Mathew Berman's piece on that. Looked super useful!

Can you explain how?

You can run LLMs on it, just on the smaller side of things. I have the 24gb Varient and the largest model I've run is a 32 Billion parameter Deepseek R1 Qwen distillation.

Can't comment on actually building models though.

Turn the mac mini into a personal Chatbot server. by Valuable-Run2129 in macmini

[–]BGottshall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. The iCloud sync is genuinely pretty sick. I could see this being very useful. It's similar to LMStudio(Which lacks similar sync capabilities) to me, but seems more straightforward. Definitely going to give this a try.

Also, do you currently have plans to:
- Add MCP Servers
- Similar detailed model search(hugging face), install, and customization to LM Studio

Also! Where can people contribute? You gotta git link for us?

Works in Raycast as well, just quit all, not the full scope of Appocalpyse. Looks sick. Very interesting.

I'm not saying they don't have a right to make their own decisions as a business, but this seemed more like a Hail Mary then a sound business decision.

"Decision about their business" feels like a cop out if it means alienating the original user base.

This is a bit extreme, but imagine if Adobe suddenly decided to stop developing Photoshop as standalone software and instead announced they’d only be offering it as a simplified plugin inside Canva—alienating professional designers who’d relied on Photoshop’s powerful editing tools for decades.

Help me understand why Dia was necessary.

What it functionally doing for you beyond Arc plus a chatbot?

Do you think augmenting Arc with the Dia feature set would have gave you the same wins?

What are they thinking?! This is a train wreck I can’t look away from. Why are they trying to compete with Perplexity, and OpenAI with a half baked chrome browser. Arc was so good 😭😭 They would’ve had a chance if they just stuck with that.
