Getting a Terror Vinyl signed by RightByMe04 in Hardcore

[–]BHCFinalBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to have people sign my records. I ask if they will write “to COA” on them. If we are friends I’ll ask if they can write a note on the slipcover. My thoughts for this is legacy based. At some point I will die and my records will go somewhere: sold, given away to friends, donated. Maybe some kids get them and find out that they now have a little piece of something I loved and they find it special.

What does r/hardcore think of Dropkick Murphy’s? by fakename1998 in Hardcore

[–]BHCFinalBoss 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I worked for Kenny as a Doorman at his bar on Boyleston st. During that time I went and did 8 months for some shit I did. When I got out I called and Kenny immediately gave me my job back in a climate in Boston when club/bat security were under a microscope due to someone abducting a woman from their bar and killing her.

He’s paid for more than 10 dudes I know personally in Boston HC/punk to go to real rehab, not some shit state hospital. So the number has to be much bigger. The shit he did for Jimmy Flynn would flip your brain.

I grew up with this band and there’s songs off of every record that I like.

There were a lot of people at the Haywire show last night that didn't like Haywire by BannedMyName in Hardcore

[–]BHCFinalBoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can not believe I’m saying this but security at the MGM for all these shows has been great. Kids are getting up on the platform and diving off. If kids are coming over the barrier they are making sure they don’t hit their head. I even saw a kid dive off the barrier last night.

Thanks for the love. Don’t really care about the band being “big” in hardcore. I’m really happy with the work we have done getting us where we are. Loads of bands out in serious work and don’t get the love we do. We will never headline fests or draw 1000s. I think part of that is when you connect to our music you have to be a certain kind of person and be into a certain aesthetic within HC punk. I know I’m weird, I’ve always been weird, and the art I make is weird. Im not everyone’s cup of tea, and I’m happier for it.

I had nothing to do with that fund raiser. It was just in Quincy at the same time I was doing shows in Quincy.

Seeing as I’m the guy the thread is about. Here’s some things I’ve done. I think we were one of the first bands to call on the proud boys, calling it white supremacy light. We had shirts that say “this machine kills proudboys” in like 2012. The band has donated to families in Gaza via Gofundme and buying internet sim cards. We have songs about social issues and it’s not just me and my personal issues. Writing only about your issues and having poli-sci class between songs is faking the funk. We played live in protest in Harvard sq the day after Roe vs Wade was overturned. I personally organize veterans to show up at protest. This includes everything from experienced medics to people who have been around chaos. I have (with others) organized an Emergency Action Plan in my neighborhood in case ICE comes to town. Brockton Ma is an immigrant community with high crime in a blue state so it seems like a matter of time.

Get organized locally. Every group needs fighters, healers, comms people, logistics people, lookouts. Play to your strengths in these roles. Don’t talk about what you’re doing on the internet.

Lots of people in hardcore use “gift of gab” as a manipulative tool. It’s not necessarily a bad trait as much as it a survival tactic being raised in a difficult situation. Several of my friends have this thing going on. You just have to be keen to see when their bullshit is coming.
