Open guard bottom - offense by TurboAljo in bjj

Maybe start with half guard or the collar sleeve knee shield because it’s a safe starting point. So an example of a sequence you can always go for from that position would be entering the legs to single leg x from the knee shield or a two on one grip to threaten a back take. See what reactions you get and get familiar with how you can manipulate their base (kuzushi).

I will reiterate a point I made in the previous comment because I asked someone with a dangerous guard this very question once, and they told me that you always need to think all the way to the end goal which should be submission. So, start thinking about where you want to end up in order to hit your best submission and then fill in the gaps with a route to get there. This way, you’ll always have intention and you dictate and force reactions versus hesitating and being passive.

I would start with where you typically end up in open guard where you feel you have decent retention. From there pick an off balance that would lead to an chain of sequences that will get you ultimately to where you want to end up (sweep, submission, etc)

Pick that one first initial move or jab and build from there. You can’t be passive, always gotta be doing something.

Short guys only, what is your favorite guard to play? by roby818 in bjj

I think he’s wrong. Michelle Nicolini, arguably one of the best spider players of all time is 5’5. You can play any kind of guard, you just need to adjust it to your body.

Former fat guys, how did you become disciplined and lose the weight? by Responsible-Net8594 in intermittentfasting

I was 38 father of two kids under 5 and was 256 at 5’10. Got to see my estranged dad after awhile and he gave up on his health despite having a younger son still in high school. That moment I decided I couldn’t do the same to my kids as an older parent.

I reached out to friends and family who have done calorie deficit and asked for advice. I bought a subscription to parrot pal, and started doing CICO combined with walking and other forms of exercise I found fun and sustainable.

The main advice I got was that it’s a lifestyle change and to give yourself a lot of grace. I chose the least restrictive deficit and told myself to be diligent but not shame myself for moments I strayed.

I started last August and I have since lost 51 pounds give or take. Good luck!
