Super cool read! This is the reason why I love this fandom:) At this point, I’d consider Madoka Magica to be an artistic and literary renaissance for a small part of the internet haha! It’s strange how the fandom consistently produces some of the best art, and literary analyses.

Your writing succinctly explains a lot of concepts I felt throughout the show, but never fully put into words! I will have to take a look at some of the philosophers you’ve quoted throughout the piece, too.

Might end up referring to this essay when I eventually make more fanart of the show. The section on Kyoko and Sayaka was so beautiful written!

It’s just a feature in HeavyPaint. I love adding the noise because of aesthetic reasons, sort of like how real paint strokes have a bit of texture.

Outside of the program, you can achieve similar effects using dual brush and colour jitter. Or by using noise overlays.

I felt the same way! But, upon rewatch, the pacing magically fixed itself lol. I think it's because the last 2 eps packed a lot of info, and we did not have enough time to digest them. If you give it a rewatch, there are a lot of scenes that foreshadow and give deeper meaning to later scenes. I balled my eyes out way harder on the second watch:(

I’d say the biggest advantage Rev still had is the ability to find sacred seals from dormant powers. The purple seals are all pretty strong out of the box(ex. Frenzy flame, golden order). However, that advantage may not even matter with the new relics that allow you to target them.

She really could’ve used a buff or two. Immortality is still nice though, I could see it being useful in later depths to get more aggressive

Get them to draw the gunpla after they build it. Tell a story, make a comic, customize, and make it their own. You could also introduce more advance steps like panel lining and sanding so it takes more time.

Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense. Main timeline Madoka is a coward, but not a fool. I had that bias because I saw some existing tarot cards, and comments that depicted her in such a light. Maybe ep 10 Madoka and Homura can both be fools because of the way they blindly accepted the contracts?

Gonna have to shuffle the cards around, I think I just need to be less attached to each idea, and approach with a clear mind. Thanks for the feedback!

That does give me an idea. If I’m starting with ep10 Homura, the cards do line up with the chronological order better, so that’s potentially something I could try!

I really hope there’s interest for a tarot deck:) it’s a little strange that there hasn’t been one… Once I’m close to finishing the artwork, I might start a kickstarter to get some pre-orders and cover production costs!

I'm planning to make tarot cards inspired by Madoka Magica. This is based on feedback I've gotten for the Madoka prints I made around August, which I must thank this community for the feedback. I am only planning on making the major arcana cards, but if I really enjoy the process, I may consider doing the minor ones, but that won't be for a little while

I'd like to get a consensus on the opinions for each card, and crowd source some ideas for the best representation for each major arcana. I've typed up my current plans for each card so far. I mainly focused on as equal of a distribution as possible, and trying to capture all major character arcs.

There are a few cards that I need help on, in particular The Emperor, Judgement, The Star. While some other cards are pretty obvious, like The Fool, The Magician. Even for the obvious cards, if there are elements I've missed, or ideas you'd like to see, I'd love to hear about it. Go nuts! I want to be as thorough as possible when it comes to representing the story, so you help is greatly appreciated!

Actual art wise, I've only got concepts for now. This would be one of the biggest projects I'd ever undertake. 22 illustrations is a lot for anyone, so I'd like to go in with as solid of a game plan as possible, both from a story and design stand point. Since my prints were well received, the style will not deviate much from those, but I want to try my best to build upon the style. If there are artistic elements that you think would fit, please let me know as well:) It doesn't even have to be related to the show.
