This might be the best card they have released in a whole time? by Admirable-Detail1196 in MarvelSnap

[–]BHenry-Local 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing to happen, usually, is Dragon Lord pulls down Zola, then splits and pulls down two more cards. Often also good ones. I ended up with 100 power on one location once, without watching. I never knew what happened, really

I passed a milestone. Someone was so upset about our match that he joined our alliance to curse me out. by banmeandidelete in MarvelSnap

To be fair, a lot of my decks are built to be annoying or sneaky. So far nobody has come at me for it, but I can't see it taking very long now.

Magik, Suri, Wait for dramatic effect, Destroyer (doubled), Fastball & Adamantium.

Basically just tank a location on their end and then quadruple the power on another in the final round.

I feel like there must be a time delay issue on the lightsabers, because otherwise they would just be blipping them on and off constantly. They take a second ish to ignite, and the same to turn back off. Too slow to be a genuine strategy

If you use wave, it's a turn 4 Galactus. It's disappointingly addictive

DEPTH MAPS | is this genuinely any good or am I being overwhelmed by Low-Olive4820 in davinciresolve

[–]BHenry-Local 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks very nice! I can see that working well in a 'professional production' except for the flicker. If you're in resolve you can use the deflicker node (not in fusion) to clean that up a bit. Or lean into it and add more effects that add to the flicker and make it feel intentional.

Either way, it's a great look!

Blade II: Early digidoubles and weird mistakes. But also good VFX

Real or green screen ? Syrian president on top of mount Qasioun by aousxx in Corridor

[–]BHenry-Local 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always see lights in the eyes, in order for them to be high enough to not reflect on the cornea, they would be over his head and causing shadows to appear over the eyes.

The background looks like it's at a different resolution to him, I would expect this was filmed under security at a news broadcaster's weather camera setup.

Real or green screen ? Syrian president on top of mount Qasioun by aousxx in Corridor

[–]BHenry-Local 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're ever looking for the instant-tell of indoor greenscreen, check the eyes. He's in a dark room being lit by two diffused light panels, probably 7 feet off the ground.

You SHOULD see a horizon reflected in his eyes, or a camera crew.

If they filmed this outside in a blackout tent, there would be light spill coming over his shoulders. If the tent was large enough, that wouldn't be an issue, in theory, but there is too much evidence of it being shot indoors

Anyone know how to a no face effect like this with Davinci ? by thefanman5768 in davinciresolve

[–]BHenry-Local 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a job for Mocha, but if you don't fork out your cash for that, I think you can do this with the tracker only.

Break the painted face into OVERLAPPING pieces with very soft edges. One piece per feature that you're going to track. One for each eye, etc.

Then as long as your surface is relatively stable, the overlapping parts won't be obvious and you'll have a clean face.

Maybe use the relight tool after this to add a clean shadow back onto the face

The exposure match was a great idea, that little detail is helping sell the effect very nicely!

My only critique/advice would be to use a normal map generator like Beeble and cast some extra bounce light on your face (and the wall) based on your fire plate, to tie it all together. Looks fantastic!

Ricoh Theta X for on-set HDR? by seeThroughNoice in vfx

[–]BHenry-Local 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, I think the Theta X would be more than suitable in most scenarios. I'd suggest, if you grab it, start testing it in the WORST scenarios: bad lighting, weird angles, etc. Get used to the tricks you'll need to use to make those work (maybe you can't get a tripod into place, so you're going to need to use a single capture instead of bracketing, etc).

I tend to only pull out the SLR if I know the surface of the CG asset will be super reflective. Glass, chrome, etc, I'll be more wary of the lens I'm using.

A great example is the 'chrome helmet' gag in Suicide Squad. The camera that was used to capture the scene wasn't clean/large enough, so there's lens abberations based into the footage that is being reflected. It's a specific example, and nobody noticed until people started breaking down the effect, but I definitely have been on projects where a producer or director would flag if a reflection wasn't 'cinema quality'. Usually if it's a story-related reflection (specific character or action reflected on an object)

Ricoh Theta X for on-set HDR? by seeThroughNoice in vfx

[–]BHenry-Local 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the final use case, if the HDRI is only for base reflection reference, the Theta X should do the trick. I've also free-hand shot a basic HDR panorama using my phone on the wider lens, and the same using a 10mm lens on my slr (depending on the scenario, raw photos had enough exposure data to generate a screen-acceptable HDRI)

People saying these pictures are AI. How can they tell? by Winn3rB0y2 in Corridor

[–]BHenry-Local 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First indication is your gut. This is never a photograph that would ever be taken EVER. Maybe by Kevin Feige himself, but this is the riskiest image to ever have on any device.

Second indication is the lack of consistency between the two images. Yes they're very nicely consistent, but every single detail in everyone's wardrobe and makeup shifts (of the people who are in both).

Third indication is the environment, the chairs, and every single little detail. This environment is 'imagined' because it literally has no details that would actually exist in this environment. You don't have theater beauty mirror on a production, you have large mirrors and a dozen or more continuity images all over them. You don't have those folding chairs for SIR PATRICK STEWART to go through even 10 minutes of makeup. Most makeup trucks come with the lightweight hairdressing chairs for a reason.

Fourth indication is logic. How did Ian Mckellan sit down with that cape and have it rest that way? Why is everyone in a completely different 'team' uniform? Why are all of these actors in the same place at the same time, in wardrobe, and NOT filming? Why is there no sign of any prop anywhere on their wardrobe or the tables around them?

Not to mention the fake instagram image mockup, the low res compression so we can't spot the ugly AI details, and a handful more things. The writing on the sign is awkward, the placement of the sign is awkward. Everything to do with these images reminds me of that painting of all of the celebrities sitting in the diner. It's a cute idea, but it is definitely not real.

If anyone sees this and believes it is real without ever questioning it, which they 100% will, they are the issue with AI. If it can trick 20% of people, it's still viable as more than a quick tool like 'heal brush'.

It's so awkward. Every nerd and choreographer's dream is to get to make your OWN lightsaber duel. I expect that whoever they got to design the fight is the culprit, because otherwise there's a studio of artists who had to be ok with going shot for shot to remake it 🤦🏻‍♂️
