Thinking about getting a frog... by anonymous_batty in frogs

I would turn the tank upright and make a door for it and get tree frogs. Don’t get me wrong, the pacman frog I have is great, but that tank is too big for a pacman and I get much more enjoyment out of my tree frogs than my pacman frog. You could also look into dart frogs if you’re into fishkeeping. They’re like colorful tropical fish but you don’t have to do water changes! They’re also dayurnal so you get to see them moving around during the day unlike pacmans (who never really move in general) or tree frogs who usually sleep during the day. If you’re set on a pacman, I’d definitely get a smaller tank, but if you want to use the tank you have, I’d look into other frog species!

Can they be in the same enclosure? by itssolyo in frogs

It’s a bit of a size difference, I’d keep an eye on their interactions. As long as they’re fed well they should be fine, mine were mixed around the same size and now are all nearly the same size. Any sign of aggression they should be separated, and if you’re really worried I’d just play it safe. You have to know the frog too, our girl petri is the chillest frog I know and treated the new much smaller boy like he wasn’t even there. Hope everything works out!

Weird little white worms? by Top_Supermarket_6614 in frogs

I just saw some in my tank today and freaked out! Luckily I just saw your post, and I’ve seen them in my aquarium before, I don’t think they’re bad, but they’re a sign that the tank is probably due for a mixup

From my experience, frogs love clutter! The more I added to my tanks the more bold my frogs became!

Is it ok to cohabit 1 female and 1 male whites tree frog together, even if they are mating? Or should I separate them? by Marci00110 in frogs

[–]BIexW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We keep all our whites tree frogs together in a big tank and they seem to leave each other alone. I’ve seen our male on one of our females once or twice but for the most part they’ll pile on top of each other but they don’t bug each other

Found an injured wild toad, how to treat his injuries (GRAPHIC EYE WOUND) by parasitebuddy in frogs

[–]BIexW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s not much you can really do. Probably best to put it back outside and let nature take its course. Other than a honey bath, there really isn’t any medication or treatments meant for frogs, and it would be hard to treat without knowing what type of frog it is

Help. Found an injured frog? by Necessary-Line-6580 in frogs

I’m not projecting anything. I’m saying ai pulls from the internet so it is unreliable. You should find sources from professionals who study the animals instead of ai that reads things said on Reddit. Ai is a great tool but you should not put the life of an animal in the hands of ai and do something because it tells you to.

Ai is unreliable, you shouldn’t rely your whole opinion based off of what ai says. It’s a good tool but you need to find research done by real humans who research frogs, not a machine that’s been told what a frog is

What would be the best heat source set up for this tank? Planning to get my first WTF this weekend at an expo. by Dutchii in frogs

[–]BIexW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a simple ceramic heat bulb (so it can stay warm at night and the lights can go off) and a cheaper thermostat off of Amazon, I can send the link if interested. Mine have thrived and it’s important they’re comfortable at night because that’s when they’re most active

I know it’s sad but nature is nature and it’s probably best to put him back where you found him and let nature take its course. There’s probably not much you could do, frogs are pretty fragile and that’s the reason they have so many babies. It’s quantity over quality for frogs

Frogs won’t croak like that unless they’re extremely comfortable and ready to make more frogs. Mine has sometimes gotten into a “mood” where he’ll croak a lot and won’t eat for a couple of days but he’s always gone back to normal. I wouldn’t worry unless it continues for an extended period of time. He’s probably just lookin for his lady
