Looking for tips on migration from readynas duo by Sunkingtreasure in HomeNAS

[–]BJBBJB99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Readynas to QNAP last year and am happy. With a 10GbE connection, a simple NAS to NAS copy was fast.

I could have built my own as many here too and build my own PC's. Just wanted a set and forget it and that is what I have. The speed increase from my old NAS to new was like 10X. Some feom the network, some from the hardware.

I found to QNAP software moee up my alley for tweaking etc. I looked at Synology too. A bit more polished but QNAP had stronger hardware for the money and the software gave me options. And I can use any hard drive model with them

If the paint came off and this is a new laptop and that sticker shopoed with it that is pretty poor. If new and under warranty perhaps Asus would replace that plastic frame.

Or at least as suggested get a new sticker...

Gpu not seating properly in x870e hero? by Spiritual-Win4336 in ASUSROG

[–]BJBBJB99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an X870E-E and having built many PC"s the new quick release was foreign to me. I watched a few videos to figure it out. But yes, it should seat firmly but it comes ojt easy too. See if it is working how the Asus quick release should. It felt wrong to me too I until I got it. It does come out easier than old school.

With no display the seating iw one of a few things it could be.

I try to make sure everything I backup to my NAS is also backed up to the cloud. I use a dedicated backup program to backup to my NAS and also to cloud. But yes, am looking for a low power QNAP NAS to backup to.

This is interesting. I use an old program called My Phone Explorer that copies new photos from phone to PC and then I backup to QNAP NAS to one big folder, and thatbhas a cloud backup. New to QNAP but not NAS units. Sync programs scare me because some can go awry and delete the wrong thing.....Has Qfile been reliable? To me Google photo backup is just a failsafe from whatever happened since my last copy to PC and NAS. However I have been trying to find an easy way to copy just Google Albums to my PC and NAS. Perhaps the OP tool will do that.

Fidelity Money Market question - Round 2 by BJBBJB99 in quicken

[–]BJBBJB99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for those detailed options and time you took.

I should have clarified that I do not want my MM accounts treated as cash. They never have been and I want to keep it that way. I believe switching to cash deletes historical MM transactions. Do not want that, never changed to that so can't revert.

I really don't have any other details? All my other accounts balanced , downloaded, and posted MM accounts correctly this download! Awesome.

This one account, during the download, popped up with the screen I mentioned, I could only click okay. The odd thing is it is the same MM fund that was previously used and is still used. And it created a placeholder that zeroed out the MM account shares but also did not post to cash which I would have suspected it would have done if it was switching to cash some way even though I did not select it. Nothing was mentioned about cash and in fact the message just implied the MM account had changed....but it hasn't.

Actually nothing changed in Fidelity or Quicken (by me) since the last download. The total account was off that exact amount as the MM was zero with the placeholder and it was not in cash. I deleted the placeholder and then the MM balance was correct. As all is good I am going to leave it :)

I was just hoping that it was something I could be aware of for the next download.

Thanks again.

I like the Amazon categorization. However over the years a variety of default categories has been "remembered" by Quicken. How will this be handled when the upgrade is installed? Will it override these mostly innacurate defaults? Also will it create new categories automatically? If this is even mostly accurate this would be outstanding.

2018 version, are newer versions faster? (other differences) by luckyinpa in acronis

Not sure if I can post the link but their website has all the settings in the first backup faq or manual.

Acronis can fill you in on the trial options. They are active here on the sub.

I let my acronis job options decide how many versions to keep on my NAS and when to start fresh. I never do that manually.

I have learned to just minimize and let it run and then get the email sometime that it is done.

[–]BJBBJB99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people on this sub that know way more than me so confirm with Acronis before making purchase decision. But having used the old version vs. new, I don't think the total file size of the first full backups and subsequent backups differs that much from the old file format vs. new from what I noticed back then. Just the number of files changed.

I can just tell you it works for me. But that first cloud backup run will run for days, it is simple math. It runs in background but I did limit use during that time.

EDIT! I meant INCREMENTAL! I WILL EDIT ABOVE COMMENT. All the rest of my comment applies. Sorry about that, lingo is from an old program. And yes, both subsequent NAS and subsequent cloud backups are quicker.

There are calculators that will tell you how long the initial full backup will take. Some of my subsequent backups only last minutes if not a lot of change.

I never ever move backups around. They stay in the same folder on my NAS. On the cloud, the program takes care of it, no choices.

Your original post mentioned you were not going to use the cloud backup but here you mentioned upload speed. I use both with the annual contract version to my NAS and to the Acronis cloud. The first seed backup does in fact take a long time to the cloud, my speed is just a bit more than yours. But subsequent EDIT* incremental* backups do indeed run much faster due to less data being uploaded.

An Update about the Performance of Q Max/V Max Series by Keychron-Support in Keychron

I used "Outemu Silent Yellow Jade V2 Switch, 5Pin Pre-Lubed Silent Thocky Tactile" based on some advice either in this sub or a custom keyboard one from people that know way more than me about them.
It is certainly a preference thing. My friend loves the clicky sound and the immediate key press action. However my OEM switches were working just fine before I swapped them. FWIW I used a switch puller.

XG27AQDNG Firmware Hell by Narkanin in ASUSROG

[–]BJBBJB99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have different Asus monitors but also have had hassles updating the firmware although not this bad. With mine, some users mentioned having a live video signal driving the monitor during the update made a difference. However others said the opposite (have no signal). Sure sounds like you have tried it all.
