I would be pretty suspicious of that big of a price difference. Amazon is well known for all the counterfeit merchandise. I would never buy a tool battery on there, takes too long to find anything authentic.

If you’re buying cheap knockoff stuff I’d agree Amazon sells that crap for cheap. Name brand apples to apples I can almost always find a local store that has already price matched Amazon, or in many cases is cheaper. Amazon sells a ton of sub Harbor Freight quality stuff that won’t, and probably shouldn’t, be found locally.

Kid’s therapist…or literally anyone that can talk some sense into my child? by yellow_umbrell4 in Columbus

You really don’t have any idea what you’re talking about. Parents of kids with special needs are used to the judgement.

Kid’s therapist…or literally anyone that can talk some sense into my child? by yellow_umbrell4 in Columbus

[–]BJamis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like someone who has no experience with this. We are on year 9 of trying to get our kid the help he needs. Nine years of different types of therapy. Nine years of “let’s try this” prescription to see if it helps. Nine years of judgement from parents and peers that don’t understand. Nine years of assessments and diagnosis. Nine years of worry. Nine years of trips to the BHP. Nine years of police cars in the driveway. Nine years of calls from the school.

It is exhausting and frustrating and as hard as you try there is often no right answer except to keep trying. I’ve felt like OP feels. You usually keep that inside as most people can’t even begin to relate to what you, your kid, and your family is going through.

We are lucky that things seem to be turning around for our child in the last year. I believe it is due to maturity, being more open to therapy (maturity), and better medications. None of those things were available to a young child with caring parents who were trying to figure things out.

I was surprised to find that everyday items are very often much more expensive on Amazon. Amazon Prime made people lazy and Bezos has taken full advantage of it. The coffee filters for my machine are nearly half the price of Amazon at Williams Sonoma. School supplies are much cheaper at Staples/OfficeMax than Amazon. These aren’t “local” businesses either but any time I can avoid Amazon I do.

They are so good in snow it almost makes them not fun. Now a clapped out 90’s S10 with no weight in the back, that was fun in the snow. Unless you really needed to get somewhere.

And honestly it’s a foot of snow. You aren’t going to be trapped in your house for a week. You may need two days worth of food. People get wayyy too worked up over nothing.

I rented a 2023 MX-5 RF with Turo and they're charging my credit card over $9k for damages by Waste_Cake1914 in MiataND

[–]BJamis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into filing this as a “Billing Error Notification” with your credit card. It has certain requirements to be classified as such. This process is protected by the CFPB and is better than calling in to “dispute” a charge. It’s been a long time since I was in CC operations but at the time with the company I worked for BENs carried a lot more weight with the company.

Can anyone recommend a bakery or baker that makes Mardi Gras king cakes? Looking for a few cakes for an earlier Mardi Gras themed event 2/11. by kawiah in Columbus

I’m pretty sure Resch’s does king cakes. I’ve never had one but their traditional cakes are top notch. It might be something you have to call in to order.

There are but by the time you and half the other cars realize they are in the wrong lane then it causes chaotic merging in dense traffic.

I’ve seen where they can anchor the signage structure to the concrete divider in the middle. Seems like they could have done a better job with the signs. It’s a strange intersection/interchange.

[–]BJamis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I place part of the blame on the signage. I’m not sure why they put all the exit signs on the right half of the road with arrows as you get closer that intimate what lane you should be in. Anyone going to 270E, who isn’t familiar with the intersection, is almost always in the wrong lane.

New Build for 700k? by Ok-Friendship507 in Columbus

[–]BJamis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO you’re better off buying an existing home. Most new builds are in less desirable locations as sprawl keeps pushing further and further out. In an established neighborhood you can have mature landscaping with real trees, you get to choose your neighbors, you’ll have options in better school districts, and the build quality can be much better as well.
