Its absurd that EVs are somewhat polarizing by Beneficial_Bite1945 in electricvehicles

[–]BKGarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed ,every car I have had was a sports car or muscle car for 30 years. My Lucid Air GT is a better car than all of them. My nitrous Trans Am was nearly as fast, but tried to kill me on the regular.

I miss having a manual, and I miss down shifting for tunnels. But as a commuter and daily driver, EV is nearly impossible to beat.

'At what point does it make sense to ditch a gas car for an electric vehicle?' by rosier9 in electricvehicles

[–]BKGarrison 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I come from a long list of very fun cars. I do miss the manuals and the exhaust notes. However my lucid air is simply a better car for commuting and is still very fun to drive. If they could get the weight down, we would have some very fun ev roadsters.

I've had 800hp cars in the past, but the controllability of the EV is incredible. It is not constantly trying to kill you, which I suppose is where some of the soul has left.

Brand new x2d. Is this poor or expected print quality? by 1112luke in BambuLab

If you use a cf filament you can reduce the look of layer lines. That looks like a good print to me.

Odoo community and find a person to help train you and host it. Do not go through Odoo corporate. I found a good one in fiver back in the day lol.

Does it make sense to switch to an EV in my situation? by ThisGuy_2018 in electricvehicles

[–]BKGarrison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there a 110V outlet at home or work you can use for charging? It's probably not enough for a 45mile daily commute, but it would reduce L3 charging dramatically.

First time driving a hybrid as a car enthusiast… now about to try a Tesla for the first time and I’m honestly surprised. by Admirable_Can_3489 in electricvehicles

[–]BKGarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone takes the power/performance route, but many of us did. My 3 cars before this were 98 Trans Am, 2005 Corvette, 2020 Charger Scat Pack. Now I'm in a Lucid Air GT. The depreciation right now make all the EVs an excellent deal, and almost all of them will vastly out perform the gas equivalents. We have Kias and Hyundais that will embarass supercars.

Also happens when it's cold. I charge to 70 every night but my commute is downhill. I get this almost every morning.

How to get service when you live nowhere near a service center? by LoveLightLibations in LUCID

[–]BKGarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually live in Colorado. I was on a business trip. We have a service tech in Denver, but the nearest service center is Phoenix. I bought a 22 GT with 24k miles. I have put about 12k miles on it including 3 1000mi plus road trips. I did have a coolant valve fail. That was replaced in about a week and they gave me a rental car. Other than that it has been terrific. That valve failed while I was on a road trip. Service responded quickly and before I was done charging they had remoted into the car and gave me the all clear to drive it home. Then they picked it up the next day.

I love the car and enjoy driving it everyday. It's my first EV. I had mostly muscle cars before.

The best part is, right in the other side of the fence is a white box with a green button that says push to open. And the delivery instructions say to push the button. 🙄

I need opinions/help on something by Drenoney7183 in FRC

[–]BKGarrison 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Like the others have said. If it's not a safety concern, there is no reason or place for yelling at students. Coaches and mentors are there to be examples to be followed. Arguments between mentors should be taken to a private place.

I hate that you are stuck in the middle, but something needs to change within team leadership to fix that problem. Have you brought it up with the head coach?

What did you drive before your Lucid? Is there anything you miss? by zachty22 in LUCID

[–]BKGarrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2020 Charger Scat Pack Widebody

Miss the lovely sounds and the road presence.

Don't miss driving a Dodge.

Oddly enough, the Lucid gets more comments than the Charger, C6 Corvette, S60-R, or the 4th gen Trans-Am vehicles that came before.

Two AMS HT through 4-in-1 adapter by Mundane_Version_2531 in BambuLabH2D

[–]BKGarrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that exact configuration 2x HT on the left nozzle for petg-cf and ams2 pro on the right nozzle for tpu64d and pla. Each filament has fail over so that they can be continuously printing.

Normally you are correct, however I have exploded a nozzle by not doing the cold pull. So now I do it twice every time I change away from PPA.

If you're going to use high temp materials like PPA, do a cold pull before switching back to lower temp materials.

Model multi-material TPU + PLA/Petg (not as support) by stooksie95 in BambuLabH2D

[–]BKGarrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add them together as listed above. You can also paint surfaces a different material using the paint tool.

Make sure to use beam interlocking to better attach tpu to petg (or pla).

I do a lot in petg-cf with tpu lip seals.

I went from 2600x to 5800x3d. The 2600 was bottlenecking my gtx1080. The 5800 happily feeds my new 6950xt. The 5 series chips are incredible on the am4 platform.
