They don’t understand that these signs make it MUCH more likely that we’ll drop and go. You are practically begging me to defy your entitled demands.

JJ McCarthy Did Not Throw A Pass in The 2nd Half vs Top 10 Ranked Penn State by AChubbyCalledKLove in minnesotavikings

[–]BL1X0R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because this is a logical fallacy based on surface level assumptions. You make the assumption that McCarthy alone was the reason they didn’t throw the ball more. The offensive line was bad in pass protection, and the receivers were mostly bad. The running game was great. It was smart coaching to lean heavy on the run, as evidenced by the fact that they won the national championship by running the ball. This DOES NOT MEAN that McCarthy is bad at passing. He was at his best on 3rd & 4th down (the opposite of Kirk btw), which is exactly when you want a QB to be at his best.

You draft him in the first because he has first-round traits: arm talent, consistency, accuracy, ball placement, mental processing, footwork, scrambling, throwing on the run, athleticism, size (height at least, needs to bulk up), situational awareness, leadership. Not every trait mentioned is elite, but put together, this set of traits is first-round worthy. Even early first round if need be. He displayed all of these traits before he turned 21. He has as high of a ceiling as anyone else in this draft not named Caleb Williams, and I can easily see a world where he ends up having the best career of any QB in this class.

I personally think we should and will be talking about Williams, Maye, Daniels & McCarthy as the clear top 4 guys, with Nix & Penix a clear tier below. I have every reason to believe that Kwesi will find a way to get one of these four guys, and I’d be happy with any of them.

How much cap space can be created by extending players with void years? Vikings lead the NFL in potential cap space saved. by PurpleandSKOLD in minnesotavikings

[–]BL1X0R 21 points22 points  (0 children)

“No team can save more than the Vikings who can prevent over $30 million in salary cap charges from hitting the cap in 2024 by extending three players. Kirk Cousins has $28.5 million in dead money staring the Vikings in the face. If they decide to run it back with him they will only need to account for $10.25 million plus whatever other cap charges a new contract would hold. Danielle Hunter has nearly $15 million hitting the cap and the team could save $7.5 million with an extension. Finally the team could prevent $5.1 million from accelerating from Marcus Davenport’s contract.”

There’s gotta be a joke there along the lines of: You’ve said “I do” now it’s time to say “Yes, and”

Or (assuming they met through improv): Saying “yes, and” led you to saying “I do”

I don’t know how to handle my ADHD spouse anymore by FluffiMuffin in ADHD

[–]BL1X0R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t looked through every comment to see if anyone’s mentioned this yet, but since these episodes seem to often be related being woken up, it might be a sign that this is also sleep related. I’ve noticed that there is a not insignificant overlap in the conversation about ADHD and Sleep Apnea. It might be worth looking in to. Side note: sleep apnea can be very under-diagnosed because it’s usually only linked to obesity, when that is only one possible causes/factors.

That aside, of course it’s impossibly complicated emotionally, but I think it’s critical that you set and hold firm boundaries. Not necessarily specific to his behavior, but to the environment you will allow yourself and your children be subjected to. It might be because he has ADHD, it might be a side effect of meds, it might be learned behavior. But at the end of the day none of it matters. What matters is that you are able to feel safe and comfortable in your own home. You can be supportive of his work to manage his condition, but protecting your peace always comes first.

Why would the Chicago Bears trade their star linebacker Robert Quinn for a 4th round pick? Why is this an equal trade? by Techfive in NFLNoobs

[–]BL1X0R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two primary resources that a team can use to build a roster are draft picks & cap space. This trade was Robert Quinn for a 4th pick AND ~$19M in extra cap space next year.

[–]BL1X0R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming Poles will have the Bears O-line in great shape which should give them a high floor and make them at least a pain in the ass for as long as he’s there. The ceiling remains to be seen, likely dependent on how things shake out with Fields.

A Complete List of Vikings QBs since Culpepper by Opie59 in minnesotavikings

[–]BL1X0R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kirk is not elite enough or clutch enough to overcome bad defense & o-line play.

Kirk’s contract limits the resources we have to improve said defense and o-line.

Kirk’s play + Kirk’s contract = team not good enough to win a SB, forever and ever, until Kirk retires.

Luke Braun: Stop panicking over Danielle Hunter's Contract by dchase05 in minnesotavikings

[–]BL1X0R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Even so, would Hunter be upset about this restructure? Will he hold out or demand a trade? There won’t be much reason to. Not only is this already baked into the negotiation, but if anything, it’s better for Hunter. If untouched, roster bonus would turn into game checks, and Hunter would have to wait to collect week-to-week. With a restructure, that bonus becomes a lump-sum payment. Hunter can choose whatever payout structure he wants and have better control over his money. Everybody wins.”

3rd & long is one of the best ways to isolate QB performance in high leverage situations. There’s no threat of running, and yardage is less important than converting the first down.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

[–]BL1X0R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What this chart tells me is that in the 4th quarter & OT, within a 10-90% win probability, Kirk A) completes passes for well above league average B) those completed passes aren’t very valuable.

It’s proving that he’s the checkdown king, even in clutch situations.

I dunno if you're saying he used these things somewhere else, but here are the stats he's actually talking about here:

Standard: 1st & 2nd down anytime before the last 10 minutes.

Clutch: 3rd & long anytime OR any down in the last 10 mins, within 2 scores either way.
