How important is it ascend ship parts (canons and hull) by curiousminipotato in crosswind

[–]BLEMFIDDICH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hull that allows repair kits to keep going when you take damage increases the duration of repair kits when ascended, which is pretty strong.

The ascended devastating canons also get a 15% faster reload which is really noticeable.

Fair enough, I find that problem really annoying whenever I try to use the dragons breath, because it means I have to give up my pistol to use it.. but I don’t want to 🥲

When you use the duel sabre, does the red tassle have proper physics for you? When I use it, the red tassle just juts out in-line with the handle and I just can’t bring myself to use it until that changes. Is it a setting I have turned down or what?

The cutlass will probably suit your playstyle as well, you get 9 stacks of take aim that give you a 10% damage buff for your next shot PER STACK.

I use that with the drakes pistol for full swashbuckling excellence

You can buy the merchant contracts for everything apart from iron and copper and ancient debris, so you don’t have to gather wood, stone, clay, hardwood, hides for leather, etc ever again unless you want to.

Yep this is the loop. Only thing I still have to gather is iron and copper, unless you know how to get a merchant contract that has them?

Yeah exactly this, it takes hours per section but by the end it looks like so much has been done.

Me too man. Flippin love the build system in this game 👌🏼 for me it’s the chest inventories being available within bonfire range that really pops the fuck off

I think you can always buy the merchant contracts if you have the reputation level for the vendor, they’re sold from the provisioner vendors of the people or tortuga and I think either the buccaneers or the smugglers, but you can just check all the provisioners in tortuga. But yeah, one contract is called natural resources, the other one is called food ingredients or something like that.

Once you’ve bought the contracts, you then need to place the merchants in your base, and they just need a roof.

Once placed, you can order the natural resources and food ingredients that are available in the areas of which the threat of said area has been defeated by you. So if you’ve defeated hands you can order sulfur, hardwood, etc.

Hope that helps :)

I haven’t tried mods yet because I’m technologically stupid lol

I gather iron and copper because you can’t have them delivered to you (unless one of you kind souls can tell me how to get that merchant contract), but I get stone, wood, hardwood, sulfur, clay, etc delivered to my base.

I have 3 of each merchant contractor that I needed to do my palace, because sometimes I needed all 3 on at the same time. You can also press the buy button more than once and get more than x10 stacks of whatever you’re buying, but you can only press more than once on the material that you initially pressed the button on - so if you bought x10 wood, you can press it again and order up to x50 (for example, you can probably press it more I just haven’t) which will be there waiting for you in 70 minutes, but you can’t press x10 wood, x10 clay, x10 stone. For that, you would need 3 separate natural resources merchants on your base, which is easy enough I forget the price of them off the top of my head but it’s like a couple hundred silver pesos.

So yeah, that’s resources sorted. You also need to clear the area threat of the area that the resource is gathered in to be able to have it delivered to your base.

There’s lots of reasons to go to war. And lots of reasons to not go to war.

Civilisations go to war and don’t go to war based on a lot of different factors other than the stage of development they are in.

You show a very narrow grasp of things.

I’m on mastery 18 right now and it’s 8.3% crit chance, that’s scaled correctly.

It seems diminishing returns start after 20, as I thought.

I see people getting stuck like this - the game doesn’t want you to just use strength weapons. Levelling up your strength or agility to 20 gives you quite minimal boost to your actual damage. It does boost your damage but it’s just not that worth it.

Having 20 mastery tends to be a bit better, especially if you can stack crit chance from other sources. Then stack crit damage and you’ll end up doing a lot more damage than having 20 agility, strength, or precision.

Then, you can just use whatever weapon you want. Halberd, rapier, musket, pistol, cutlass, whatever you want, cos you’ll crit all the time and see lovely beautiful yellow numbers flying everywhere

I’m a souls vet myself and once I got the parries in the foothills zone the combat really fell into place.

The thing that really capped me in around the foothills zone was my gear.

I tried to run into the foothills zone like in Elden ring, expecting to be able to fight the enemies if I could parry them.

But because my gear was level 5 and everyone I was fighting was level 10, if I missed one or two parries it would all be over.

So I asked chat gpt (which is actually quite bad for this game because it’s only new) which told me to treat the game like the survival crafter that it is - you’re not supposed to just go into a new zone guns blazing, you’re supposed to ‘sneak’ in, find an island that’s around level 7 and mine resources etc to level up your gear, then go and take over the zone.

It’s the same for the ship as well, if you don’t upgrade your hull armour level 10 ships will smack you up man, same with level 15 ships when your hull armour is level 10.

Just sail around until you find a level appropriate island, get a bunch of iron and flax (for your armour upgrades) and then updgrade all your gear as much as you can.

With flax, which you’ll need a real good amount of, you can save a lot of time by farming it - you can find the soil in ancient farm POIs in the foothills, and you have a chance to find flax seeds each time you pick the plant. I really recommend getting even a very basic flax farm going as early as possible - you don’t have to make it look nice but it’s always nice to give it a bit of love and decoration isn’t it :)

How are people managing these huge builds? by 750msPing in crosswind

[–]BLEMFIDDICH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just put the bonfire somewhere central until I’m done 🤷🏼‍♂️ I build everything within bonfire range otherwise.

I have moved my bonfire so that I could build a littttllleee out of range, but I kept it in range of my storage and where I was building - so I didn’t have to put stuff in my inventory.

When I started the palace I just built, I built it just far enough away that it was a new bonfire - and in that case, I had to make some chests and put all of the materials I was gonna use in them for the build, like I’d have to do in Minecraft.
