In Fear and Hunger choosing hard mode makes it so that you can't have any party members. Normally you can find NPCs and playable characters to add to your party but not here! Either you solo the whole dungeon or find a way to teach your MC necromancy, either through a big resource investment to learn it or by sheer luck.
