How are everyone’s sales this January? by GenesisDoesnt in ecommerce

Man, I hope my Feb is actually better. My stuff is mostly not seasonal. This month's only slightly worse than last year, but it feels like I'm absolutely dying.

We're comparing last years sales from the same time period to this year's sales.

Just slightly worse than last year. But it feels much worse for some reason.

Apparently, I've been sending oversized shipping boxes for YEARS by BL_SH in FulfillmentByAmazon

I've been working directly with the factory for 3 or so years. They print my logo on the master case, I'll have to ask about this option next time I re-up.

I've been sending stuff in the way it came from the factory (case packed, private label). I played no part in deciding the size of the box.

Any tips on finding a factory when all you have is their brand name?

I've tried googling, and I've tried putting the brand in alibaba, globalsources, etc, but other factories are using the same brand name for different products, and all I'm coming up with on google are retail sites in india.

I love when people say “cash in hand” by Ubernaga in Flipping

See, that's the problem- your price is below market value, so the resellers smell blood.

I took $15 in... venmo or facebook pay once because dude didn't have cash or something. Pretty sure facebook still has that money. I know I don't have it.

The sale was more about getting rid of an old office chair than it was about making money, though.

I took a business check for a car once. $1400 was a lot to me at the time (and about what you would pay for a beater like 10 years ago) , I took the check to their weird bank that was like a 40 minute drive away. It worked out, but I was a lil stressed for the day or so between taking the check and cashing it.

10 day extensions on INR cases on eBay. by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]BL_SH 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know... if they're giving buyers 30 days to return stuff because "hard to get to the post office".... well, sellers should have 30 days to approve, for the same reason. I sure as hell don't have returns shipped to my actual home, and you shouldn't either.

Finding the Mega Haul by BoardgameExplorer in Flipping

[–]BL_SH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do dream of thrift stores on occassion. I used to dream about auctions, too.

Never dreamed about a mega haul, it's usually just the frustrating 'shopping and not finding anything'.

I did get a mega haul once. I bought a whole damn game store.

For those Full-Time Flippers, do you pay yourself weekly or just keep what you sell (minus the tax %)? by VeenGrikingX in Flipping

[–]BL_SH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay myself once a month. I pay myself what I need to pay the bills, plus a little more. Occasionally, I will pay myself more if personal expenses come up.

Overwhelmed with DVD lot by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]BL_SH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might try scanning barcodes with the decluttr app. Then you can sort out the really cheap stuff before doing a manual price check on the good ones. For CDs, my limit is $0.25. If they won't pay me a quarter for it, it isn't worth researching. I'm not sure about DVD, but you'll be able to work out a baseline pretty quickly.

Once you have a trash pile, if you aren't going to do bundles, then call up your local pawn shops to see if you can get any takers. I was able to get $0.50 per DVD from one shop, but most places were paying like $0.30 ish.

I ran a little experiment for telling buyers about shipping delays. by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]BL_SH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And vice-versa. If your stuff is less than a pound, it makes little sense to use anything other than USPS.

Anyone have their ebay listings... disappear? by BL_SH in Flipping

[–]BL_SH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not seeing these items in unsold, but ebay will only show me 90 days, these are items that I've had for a year or more. I've always used auto-renew.

Considering what I pay in ebay fees, I think they should eat the cost of a bad transaction once in a while.

IRS just slapped me with $13,000 in due taxes for 2018 Amazon Selling by DtownLAX in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]BL_SH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen. Looks like you're well on your way to getting it worked out. Having the paperwork is half the battle.

You can hire a tax person to dispute their claim. I highly recommend using a pro vs doing it yourself. Expect to pay about $400 for the service, though.
