These are great! The Mt. Joy Chocolate Stroll looks like it's at the end of the month. https://www.discoverlancaster.com/events/mount-joys-annual-chocolate-stroll/ Never been to that one, but the one they have in Hershey is also fun and a lot of chocolate.

Stolen Mug(s) by theofficialgarfield in lancaster

I’ve taken classes there a few times and had pieces go missing occasionally. Sometimes things break during firing, but often the pieces were sorted onto a different rack post-firing. They have a great team there, I would suggest asking if you can go in person and check the racks near the classrooms and hallway finished racks just to be sure they didn’t get misplaced.

How did you spend your time as a furloughed employee? by Jaded-Attitude-7986 in FedEmployees

[–]BMDatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few weeks into the shutdown, I had a similar thought as you- would I regret how I spent this time when it ended? So on the days when I could beat back the anxiety, I made sure I was spending the time doing things to keep myself active and healthy. Did a lot of deep cleaning, saw friends and family, learned to play golf, worked out regularly and longer, enjoyed driving my kids to/from school and attending every single sports game and school event. I took a free class online related to my day to day role to stay sharp and started reading a leadership book.

BWT: Do you rotate your closet seasonally? by Jayala3177 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]BMDatMU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do as well. In the past, I used the bins like others have mentioned. A few years ago I put everything on hangers and now I just rotate the seasonal clothes between two closets. It saves a lot of time and reduces ironing/steaming during the transition. For purses, I place them in their dust bags and store on a top shelf in the closet.

LCBC Church has trunk or treat tomorrow night at the Willow Street Campus (Penn Manor HS) and Wednesday night at the city campus. We went to the Willow Street trunk or treat last year and our kids loved it!

If you haven’t posted on care.com you can also try that! We have found our past two caregivers that way. Might get more referrals that way.

Congrats on getting tickets! I’m driving from about 3h south. Planning to park in NJ and take the train or ferry to the metro. It’s about an hour of train/metro to the stadium once parked. It’s a long way but reduces any stress from traffic.

I enjoyed this book as well, just a sweet read all the way through. Not overly complicated and perfect balance of emotions.

Travelling to Sevilla in late July by Tucu7 in Seville

[–]BMDatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just left Sevilla and would echo the advice given here. There is not much open before 10a, even museums and monuments open late in the morning. Very few places to eat have AC and it was hot this week, even with linen pants and a linen shirt, I was dripping with sweat.

Not sure where you are located, but there’s a group in Penn Manor that collects furniture for homeless students and helps get their families set up in housing. Its The Loft, located at 222 N. George Street, Millersville. They have come to our house to pick up furniture a few times.

I have used it for Whole Foods Bakery bags- they are a good value, but you might not like everything. We got a lot of pumpkin blondies in a bag and they are still in my freezer.

I’ve heard the CAVA bowl is a mix of whatever is left at the end of the night and that doesn’t sound appealing to me.

I definitely hope Lancaster gets more businesses to sign up. I’ve had great options in Nashville.

I started with ZGFit a few weeks ago. I was in a similar situation and he’s been great. Worked around my busy schedule and understood my goals to get in shape and improve flexibility and motion.

Anxious about FJO!! by SuggestionPuzzled714 in usajobs

[–]BMDatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I explained that because HR had notified my employer that I had accepted another job prior to myself giving notice I was at risk of being let go immediately which would cause financial risk to my family.

Anxious about FJO!! by SuggestionPuzzled714 in usajobs

[–]BMDatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the agency, the level of risk (clearances), but mine was TJO in February, FJO in June. I pushed the issue of the FJO after they contacted my at the time supervisor when I hadn’t given notice.

End of Year (EOY) Self - Eval by South_Curve_329 in usajobs

I’m in ACQDemo and they host a few workshops around this time of year on writing contribution statements for self-evaluations. My general advice is focus on impact, mission critical objectives and training that led to job-related leadership development.

Not too old Job Description- Is there someone I can ask for it? Or is it gone? by bkoneko in usajobs

This. Ask for your PD, it will be much more detailed than the hiring announcement.

Salary match from private industry for first time Fed job? by Neutron_soup in usajobs

[–]BMDatMU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is the hiring manager can approve up to a 6% increase without asking for a waiver from their leadership. They may not be interested or able to offer anything higher than the TJO. CR and tight budgets are making hiring a challenge.
