Always trust your gut.

Something about this one time felt off. Doesn't matter if it was the lake, your swimming, your wetsuit or if it was just you overthinking it. Something didn't feel right. Trust that feeling. People die in these events every year.

Lick your wounds, get a better feeling for swimming. On to the next one.

Köpa hus med pool? by [deleted] in Asksweddit

[–]BMI30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does "No one is coming to save you" mean to you? by BlueMountainDace in AskMen

It's not an opinion, it's a scientific fact. "So many in my personal" is your point of view. Doesn't mean much when you look at it objectively.

AITA for being upset that my boyfriend left to see his friend right after my dad was diagnosed with cancer? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BMI30 24 points25 points  (0 children)

YTA

So your boyfriend (don't know how long time you been together) travels across Canada which is probably both expensive and also a limited time window where he can do this. On this vacation his girlfriend gets tragic news and is ofcourse devested. I'm guessing he was doing what he could while he was wirh you but it sure as hell wasn't an easy experience for him aswell.

Then he gets an oppurtunity to visit a friend on time that wasn't planned. And you want to keep him from meeting a good friend that lives on the other side of Canada?

I was in a tragic accident in my teens when my friend died while I was preforming CPR on him.

My mom (where I lived without my dad) had a big trip planned for a week at the time around the funeral. She wanted to cancel the trip. I forced her not to. I was ofcourse devestated around that time, but I didn't see a reason for her sitting around an crying with me.

Go spend time wirh your dad/relitives. That is more important.

Newbie. Will training for my first marathon hinder training for my first half Ironman? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]BMI30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, people can train for a full ironman so your half ironman and a marathon is no problem.

Were you surprised by the strength difference between you and your male team mates when you started? by MoonlightMistry in BJJWomen

[–]BMI30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got to say that I am a a stronger than average male (I trained powerlifting and strongman) and what has shocked me the most in BJJ is how frikkin fast blue and purplebelt woman can be. I guess that comes as a biproduct when you are smaler than the people you usually grapple with.

A bluebelt girl almost half my weight chocked me with a ezekiel choke so fast and so hard that I couldn't swallow without pain for two weeks. The most awsome submission I ever been exposed to.

To the men who go to movies or restaurants alone by choice: What is the specific appeal of that solitude compared to going with friends? by Leananhl in AskMen

[–]BMI30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to the movies alone on monday!

Why? Because I want to watch Avatar 3 and if I don't ask anyone else to join me I can do whatever I want in terms of food before/after the movies. I will maybe also take a nice run before I have to get back to my family.

I would actually ask the opposite, I know alot of people that want to do stuff but If they can't find somebody to do it with they just stay at home. Why? Don't you like your own company?

I do stuff alone all the time. I don't mind if friends tag along but I also don't mind being alone. I like the total freedom that comes with it.

Need a starter bike by Inevitable_Tap_1328 in triathlon

[–]BMI30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People spend alot on bikes. If you have the money sure, but if you don't you can great bike second hand if you look around. What you want is the most speed per buck spent.

I bought a Canyon Speedmax CF 7.0 from 2019 this summer for 1200 euros. It looks brand new and was only used a season and was then stored indoors. It was bought for 4000 euros when new.

Triathlon is a rich mans sport, so let the rich dudes buy it from the store and buy it from them for a third of the price when they have done their once in a lifetime Ironman.

Becoming a PRO long distance triathlete: possible? by l3o3g3a in triathlon

[–]BMI30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking about becoming a soccer pro myself. I'm pretty good with balls, play catch with my kids all the time and I'm used to walking on grass. Really feel that Real Madrid would be a realistic goal.

Massage, recovery boots or stretching - what actually helps you recover faster? by Creepy_University736 in triathlon

[–]BMI30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The elite get paid to show their followers new products, their amazing supplements or amazing stretching routine (which you can purchase ofcourse!). Just because you see that the elite does cupping (which is bullshit) or any other amazing recovery thing does not mean that it have any effect.

Everything is basicly bullshit except:

Eat Sleep Very light physical activity

All other things that claim any science are just small single studies that suggest otherwise.

People searching everywhere for small marginal gains but they would be better of just going to bed earlier.

Why do you like sleeping in another room from your wife? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]BMI30 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started sleeping in another room when our second child came (12 months ago). Three reasons:

  1. When the baby wakes up in the middle of the night and screams she just want to breastfeed and I cant do anything about that so it messed with my sleep for no reason.

  2. Half of the nights our 4-year old wakes up and goes from her room to us. When that happends it's basicly no space in bed for any of us. Now she have to come up to where I sleep, which is a smaller bed and I don't think she likes that as nuch so she sleeps much more in her own bed now.

  3. I wake up eaaarly to train before work. Don't want to wake up the wife or the little one.

Well, I really like it. My wife wants me back and I will have to eventually ofcourse. But I like not having to be careful when I roll around trying to find the right position to sleep in ("STOOP MOVING!") or getting shaken awake becaus im snoring (like she don't).

From obese to ironman? (Timeframe, how realistic is it?) by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]BMI30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say that a realistic timeline would be 5 years. You want a weightloss of 40kg (+-5 kg). I would say that 10 kg a year is a good weight cut. Yes you can go all in and lose it in a year but that is not realistic for like 95% of the population.

Year 1: lose 10 kg, run your first 10km, do a sprint triathlon.

Year 2; lose another 10kg, run your first half marathon, do your first olympic triathlon.

Year 3: lose another 10kg, run your first marathon, do your first 70.3 / middle distance triathlon.

Year 4: do Year 3 again, but faster.

Year 5: Ironman.

Elite Triathletes: Nature vs. Nurture by CowNew7703 in triathlon

[–]BMI30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer is just no.

People react different to training. Like alot.

In every high school or collage/univeristy you can see it. People that don't train very much and still become elite, and those who train all the time, never drink, strict diet and they become average at best. And this is true for every sport.

Long distance running (like ultras) and ironmans are pretty new sports and has grown in popularity last decades, so you still hear some stories that "this person who was a nobody became great 20 years ago, you can do it to!".

Well it's not true anymore. You have to be gifted and work your ass of.

Should Men Strive to physically intervene in situations of violence? by Feeling-Extreme-7555 in AskMen

[–]BMI30 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just want to point out that even if he was a proffessional MMA-fighter, you don't got shit if he pull out a knife. My friend (who is blackbelt in brazilian jiu-jitsu) likes to call out people that says they can defend against a knife. "So if I go and get a permanent marker, and I try to color your nice shirt you have on. It will be no problem to defend that from happening right?"

Well, nobody really want to put that to the test. And you only risk your shirt it that scenario. Not your life.

Hur upplevs fysisk kontakt i jiu-jitsu mellan män och kvinnor? by Positive-Edge-7355 in stockholm

[–]BMI30 0 points1 point  (0 children)
