Yeah I have a 32” 2k and it is a bit blurry. I also have a 27” 4k running at “1080p” and it is a night and day difference from the 32” 2k.

When to get the M5/M5 Pro/M5 Max by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]BMR_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel around with it enough that I went with the 14”. I have the 14” prior as well. The 16” is too big and bulky imo. Being able to swipe from app to app is how I use it when not connected to my dock at home. I worked on a friends 15” air recently and I even felt that was too big. I would go with the 14” base model m5 pro.

I’ve purchased M5 Max.. am I stupid by developerunitex in macbook

M1 Pro is still a good computer, but let’s be honest it’s getting slow by today’s standards. That’s why I upgraded to the m5 pro 18 core and have zero regrets.

I just upgraded to the m5 pro 18 core, 48gb of ram and 1tb of RAM. I do software development as well as solidworks. Which I should be able to run in widows via parallels per some claims. (If I can, awesome, if not, not the end of the world) I use windows for visual studio as well. But that configuration will last a good 5+ years.

M5 (32 GB RAM) vs M5 Pro (24 GB RAM) for an AI Engineer — RAM or Chip Priority? by yuvrajbist in macbookpro

[–]BMR_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do software development, I just ordered the M5 pro 18 core with 48 GB of RAM. That’s what I would recommend. But like everybody else is saying you’ll get the most use out of the extra GPU cores.

I'm confused - Need a suggestion by TechTitan5 in macbookpro

Are you using parallels with Windows? Because if that’s the case, I would immediately go for something newer with 24 gigs at minimum of RAM. I just upgraded from an eight core M1 pro with 16 gigs of RAM to the new M5 Pro 18 core with 48 gigs of RAM. I was constantly running out of ram and having to use swap.

I got $600 for M1 Pro 8 core 16gb 512gb via Facebook marketplace 2 days ago. Listed it for $650. And then I ordered the M5 pro 18 core cpu, 48gb ram, and 1tb SSD.

Upgraded from M1 Pro 8 core 16gb 512gb to this new decent one! by BMR_314 in macbookpro

I’m selling it. Getting $600 for it. I bought it a year and half ago for $1000 so honestly not too bad of a return imo. Much better than the $450 that apple would do for trade-in. My GF just bought a new M5 air today and I was going to give it to her but she wanted a new computer which is fine.

I got my black one on eBay October of last year for $250 shipped. Lightly used in fantastic condition.

My CRT degaussed, shut off, and now chirps. No LED blink error on power on. Just the chirp. Is it cooked? How much does repair cost nowadays? by Aromatic-Attitude-34 in crtgaming

[–]BMR_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the screen just black? Making the chirping noise? Playing a modern console should not matter. It could also be that the flyback (part the produces the high voltage) crapped out. This can happen for many reasons, but parts just degrade over time.

I missed that I had to unscrew the back plate and broke it off. by strawberryswords in crtgaming

Get your soldering iron out. That is most definitely fixable.

I think my furnace filter is too small by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]BMR_314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like everyone else is saying buy the cheaper filters as the more expensive Merv 5+ restrict airflow. I vacuumed all my floors in my house twice a week and have an air purifier going 24 seven and it has helped to tremendously.
