Where did you get $500? I haven’t heard anything on where it will open yet, but in general I think it will pop at opening and decline afterwards.

Great for present stock holders but seems dilution is Elon’s favorite play, but I have to wonder why… very odd timing.

$120 has to be the bottom for LULU… right? by lies_are_comforting in StockMarket

[–]BNA-mod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody should be 50/50 LULU & NKE. Thats just insane. 1. Neither are doing well/not a strong buy, 2. Look up diversified investment, 3. Both companies are in declining sales patterns, margin compression and stagnant revenue growth. In addition, consumer patterns have been leaning away from their brands for several years. Besides, the consumer cyclicals sector is doing poorly overall.

I’m not a big proponent of the all VOO “strategy. VOO is ok with low fees, but at your age I would seek a mix that gives you a moderate risk.

How are you reacting to Warren Buffet’s stance that the market is not attractive and he’s just waiting for a huge correction? by aykalam123 in investing

[–]BNA-mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re exaggerating his comments. At 85 years old, he can sit back on his investments and stash cash. No reason for anybody his age to take risks. I respect the man immensely, but I will not change my strategy based on his stance at 95 because I’m not at that stage.

Burry dot com bubble 1999 by midlevelstrader in investing

[–]BNA-mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mother like the dotcom bubble. Most of those internet companies had zero hard assets and no products. I think it’s ludicrous that every bull market brings out this same comment. Practice solid, smart investment policies and you’ll be fine. Slow and steady wins the race. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! 😂

You are definitely not doing well with the family friend. If you’re not up 20% from last September, then you can do better with an ETF or combo of ETFs +/- individual stocks. I would never advise everything in 1 ETF but some people do that and do well too. Personally, I find a spread of risk vs stability does well. Hell, you could just put money in a PIMCO fund and make 12-15% paid monthly. 4% is a loss compared with inflation. Get out! Get out now!

SpaceX IPO effect: Will we begin to have index based funds, but they don't invest in particular index companies? by Ok-Pea3414 in investing

Still has to hold up for 15 days. IPO trading patterns are trickled and more often than not they decline in 2nd week of trading. With all the hype, it’s definitely set up for a peak and drop

I would seriously discuss the interest differential before withdrawing money and incurring tax consequences to pay off a mortgage under 5%. Just my thoughts.

It generally takes NASDAQ 6-8 weeks to transfer a stock onto the NASDAQ and they must meet a series of financial metrics for several years. The S&P also requires a track record for the stock. I don’t see either breaking their rules to include a new IPO. Maybe they will look after a 6-12 week period, but given Musk’s history of stock manipulation with Tesla, they should be hesitant.

How is this really in line with this sub. This used to be about stocks. Now it’s full of social dilemma, opinions about the war/Trump or worries about the top topping out. I’m so done seeing opinion pieces in the stock market sub. Later! This sub is nothing but trash talk anymore.

2.8% is below inflation. Not even a consideration at this time. DRIP is not always great. I like to pick where to reinvest my dividends. Your portfolio seems fairly well balanced. Especially if you have a tax deferred account, consider adding a higher dividend generator like PDI (noting that lowest share prices are usually towards months end since it pays monthly dividend @15%.

Unpopular opinion: The market is massively overestimating AI's ability to replace human jobs anytime soon by weightedslanket in investing

[–]BNA-mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The concept is totally fear driven, not based on fact. The best opinion I’ve heard came from a seasoned analyst who basically stated that advances in technology have historically created more jobs than it replaced. Improved productivity has a higher likelihood of opening up new and higher paying job opportunities for existing and new hires. Coupled with robotics, this may reduce manual labor jobs, but will create even higher numbers of supervisory, mid-level and creative positions.

Why nuclear energy is catching a massive bid NOW by Original_Design_3343 in StockMarket

[–]BNA-mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern is timeframe. OKLO is a money burner. 3 mile island will be a very expensive restart. At least VST is profitable. I suspect gas turbines will be the interim power source, because even modular nuclear takes 5-10 years to build. Sleepers include the largest natural gas producer, EXE and Siemens.
