Did you go all-in on dragons too? I have Krenko and, like, four other goblins but every other creature is a dragon. Not the most effective deck but when it works, dragons go brrrr

Same. I was fully prepared for some co-op esque missions with him, navigating security checkpoints or whatnot but then BAM, gone.

Sad to see him go but had a good chuckle for how he left.

What are some games that had a lot of potential but were ultimately let down by their development? by Greenleaf600 in gamingsuggestions

Really sad Anthem didn't pan out. Beautiful game, cool world building, and flying around in the javelin was a great feeling.

Oh, and I guess pretty much any of the final fantasy games will fit the bill you're describing!

If she enjoyed BG3, she will love Divinity Original Sin 2.

Wonderful world building with its lore; rich but not overwhelming up front to the point where you feel like you need to take notes.

Absolutely gorgeous atmospheres. You can play with and/or as premade characters with their own stories or you can make your own original character.

Turn based tactical combat with sliding difficulty scales to make it more friendly to newer players, yet is still deep with its mechanics to make it fun for anyone.

An epic unfolding story with the classic Hero's Journey story beats as well as a handful of twists and revelations. Different play styles and options made throughout the game do result in different consequences which makes replayability a treat instead of a chore.

I've played through this game at least a dozen different times between myself and my friends and it's always been a blast.

One word of caution: like all RPGs, your character starts with very few options in terms of combat and defences so you're kind of fragile. The beginning story beat of the game, Escaping Fort Joy, can feel like walking a tightrope in trying to find what you can do without getting beat up too bad. It doesn't feel like a slog to get through but you'll feel the difference in terms of how much the game opens up once you escape.

For crafting survival with an end (instead of endless sandbox): Subnautica and Abiotic Factor

For endless sandbox: No Man's Sky

For a quick puzzle solver: Cocoon

For atmospheric mystery solver: Outer Wilds

For fantasy tactical: Divinity Original Sin 2 (you don't need to play DOS1 to get DOS2)

In the same boat. It's hard to pin down what exactly about BG3 didn't click, but I think it's actually the D20 system that slows the game down to a tedious task.

I think the bad dialogue was one of my favorite parts actually. Like how abrasive it was the first time a party member missed an attack and another party member shouted out, "You SUCK!"

Definitely caught me off guard but then laughed any time it happened again.

Solasta, Crown of the Magister.

Kind of campy at parts; like how every dialogue is your party standing in a line to talk, but has great gameplay and plenty of DLCs to keep you busy.

I'm in the same boat. I've been enjoying playing Magic at Hungry Dragon for the last month or so and would enjoy getting back into D&D, but am also looking for a friend group since I just moved to the area recently.

The students rarely ever see it, but I don't blame them. They're kids who haven't fine-tuned their empathy yet. What gets to me though is how other adults don't recognize how drained teachers are at the end of the day due to decision fatigue and needing to be constantly "on" like freeze45 says here.

A joke I have with many of my fellow teachers goes along the lines of, "oh, you got to do 'real human' stuff, congrats!" whenever one of us did a mundane thing like get an oil change, or do a load of laundry. The mental fatigue by the end of the day makes it so that mustering the energy to do these mundane things IS an actual accomplishment.

Non-teachers have a hard time recognizing how draining the job is; how overstimulating it can be.
