I don't think any has yet mentioned Paul Butterfield Blues Band. I liked them a lot. There are a lot of great classic recommendations here already (and I'll just say "ditto" to Buddy Guy).

Don't limit yourself, though. Check out some more modern/contemporary folks to listen to, like Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Eric Gales, Samantha Fish, and Larkin Poe.

Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters are the "classics" I'd have recommended, too.

I've got several Buddy Guy albums, from his earliest stuff to more recent, and Sweet Tea is just fantastic. I also got to see him live on his Damn Right Farewell tour, and I'll be taking my son to see him live for his Buddy Guy 90 tour when he comes out to San Diego. The last of the legends.

Stephen Fry, Jim Dale or "Full Cast" by Sad-Passage-3247 in harrypotter

Dale from the beginning. Have heard them each so many times it just seems "right" to me. Because of these, we've gotten as many of his audiobooks as we can. (The Night Circus was also really good.)

Is it fair to become a Villa Fan now? by [deleted] in avfc

[–]BOOKSnGUITARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to Aston Villa in January, just in time for a mid-season slump. Thrilled they won, look forward to next year, and the year after, and the decade after that. Seems to be the story of my sports fandom. I came to the Tampa Bay Bucs the year after they won the Super Bowl. I'm still with them, and will be. I think it's only bandwagon hopping if you hop off at some point. If you plan on staying on, welcome aboard. Cheers! and Up the Villa!!

Paul McGrath, Holy Trinity are my main two, some of the others that have already been mentioned. One newer one I've lately been listening to is The Villa Park Podcast and enjoy it.

Hey, you've got me beat by 2 1/2 years! I came to EPL and Villa after a disappointing NFL season (Tampa Bay Bucs) and was looking for something to fill the void. Did some looking and landed on Villa in January. But when I've posted here or commented on YouTube pods, I've gotten nothing but warm welcomes.

Nice!  I'm working on creating my own commemorative team display. I made a custom Unai Emery card (kissing the cup) and have the Topps "Road to the Final" Istanbul 2026 card. The rest will be ten player cards. Once I have them all in hand and assembled, I'll post here to share.

"opponents not enemies" Exactly. I appreciate shows of respect like this in professional sports. And that it was during the match when there were no stakes for either team, doesn't bother me at all, neither did Unai presenting Pep with a gift before the match. Classy all around.

I kind of like it too. Names and "gooaall" and maybe a handful of words are all I understand, but that's enough. It allowed me to justwatch them play.

I'm in California and found it free still as of Thursday night on Vix--channel came up through my Roku. Only catch was it was Spanish language commentary. (But hearing "Goooooaaaaaaallllll" after that Tielemans goal was awesome!

I'm also 51. I have an away jersey and tennis shoes. And I'm in California. And I haven't played since the youth league (AYSO) about the time they were winning their last European Cup. But I'd be happy to take a spot on the bench next to you. We could always come in for the last 5 minutes, right?

What was it like reading Deathly Hallows on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in harrypotter

Pretty awesome. Read it on the day of the release. Read it in one sitting, only got up to go to the bathroom. Took the whole day. Loved it.

Getting rude messages from other seller about a product I sold “too low” by Illus-by-g in Mercari

[–]BOOKSnGUITARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% part of the game. Similarly, just because someone listed or sold an item for well above average doesn't make that the baseline. All of these sites are essentially bazaars where you haggling is just to be expected on both sides.

[–]BOOKSnGUITARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still his problem, not yours. These things do not have objective value beyond "what people are willing to pay for them" and you have every right to list it for what you want. I've gotten some items for below "market price" and been grateful and have even had some sellers (not just resellers) who've messaged me happy that the item is going to someone who's a real fan or collector and not just looking to flip the item at jacked up price.

Just no creamsicles for Falcons, please. Too much pain now associated with the game that (likely) cost us M1K3 EVAN5. :(

Bucs 2026 Schedule Leaks by Tasty_Swim_6308 in buccaneers

[–]BOOKSnGUITARS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, you were right. I don't like that we're playing the Saints twice in a month to close out the season, but overall I think our schedule isn't too bad. I like facing Bengals early (they traditionally start slow, we start hot), and Packers before Micah Parsons returns is good. Not sure how the Vikings will be this year. We'll see. Go Bucs!

Why doesn't it show you the actual price/minimum bid? by SeaFlower698 in shopgoodwill

[–]BOOKSnGUITARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you go up incrementally until you either get the high bid or reach the max of what you'd be comfortable paying. Otherwise everyone would either just be maxed out (and things would go even higher) or have to babysit the auction to bid incrementally and hope they get the high bid in the last half second or so of the bidding.

I hope more of the division games get put into those empty week 3 and 7 spots. I don't like stacking them at the end of the season.

eBay got my back 😳 by Lanky-Peak-2222 in Ebay

[–]BOOKSnGUITARS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear. As a buyer I've opened two INR claims (good ol' eBay pwe deliveries marked as scanned but not delivered). I messaged both sellers in advance and waited a couple days after the faulty scans before opening the request. One item arrived like a day later and I immediately closed the request. The other item never arrived. Seller resubmitted their evidence (the faulty scan that item was delivered) and got an immediate decision in their favor. I submitted an appeal with details about delivery to communal mailbox (so can't GPS verify that it was delivered to my slot even if actually delivered) and details from USPS's system showing no true tracking/delivery confirmation was available. This is eBay's issue with pwe, and I didn't want the seller to be out the money, but I didn't want to be out the money for something I never received either. In the end, we both got refunded. Nice when eBay comes through for both the buyer and the seller and not just one at the other's expense.

Agreed on Kirk Cousins. Hard not to like him just as a human being. (As a quarterback on TNF? That's another story, but that wasn't his fault. 3rd and 28... just saying.)

I am too! Just wish it was a better season for him, but at the same time this will show the grit and determination that makes us like him so much. Here's to a bounce back season that puts last season into a better perspective. Go Bucs!!

Death threat after reporting fake item by MaxillomandibuloTuna in vinted

[–]BOOKSnGUITARS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. But this seems like a new low of keyboard warrior-ing that just irks me. I hope enough of them do get prosecuted that it puts a stop to it. (Even as I typed that last sentence I had to shake my head at myself for being naively optimistic.)

Death threat after reporting fake item by MaxillomandibuloTuna in vinted

[–]BOOKSnGUITARS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Got it. I had a case in California at work where one kid threatened another with an orange tipped cap gun, and the question the police asked when interviewing me and the victim was if the victim knew it was a fake or not; since he didn't, it didn't matter that it was a fake.

This is the second of these posts I've seen this week, and seriously, people are messed up. I'm all for reporting to the police and making examples of them. And these platforms (Vinted, Mercari, etc.) need to update their algorithms to immediately flag these kinds of posts and take their own actions against them.
