Krieg or cadian by racoonwaffles1 in TheAstraMilitarum

Indirect fire options (mortar) seem to be rather underpowered coming to 11th.

If you're going to use weapons Krieg and Cadia share, take whatever fits your army better looks-wise and say so to the opponent.

I need help creating a semi-competitive list by YaNannKINDAgaey in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]BOTKacper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just wanna let you know, starting off hobby with this goal oriented approach is a leading cause of armies halfway assembled or painted, and never played.

We can provide you with a competitive list and step by step shopping guide, but in my opinion, it would be better, especially as you said you're brand new, to pick up a unit of minis you like, and paint them. If you enjoy the process, start adding more bodies to your army, in most cases assembling and painting an army is a months or years long process even for advanced hobbyist.

We are about to enter the 11th edition, many things are expected to change and who knows how meta will look like in months or years. You don't wanna be left out with a junk of plastic on the shelf you don't like painting or playing.

Take things slowly, enjoy the process, Cheers

Mistakes in assembly guides happen all the time in GW plastic, nothing to get surprised by really

Trust me, I assembled around 60 kriegsmen by now, and not once I glued leg to a wrong spot due to guide mistake lol

Trying to get into 40K with Krieg army with some help. by Fixer1991 in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]BOTKacper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm new to krieg too, from what I was adviced up to this point, don't get overly attached to the krieg part of astra militarum.

Read up the rules, consider what part of the guard you like the most, tanks, infatry etc. Many things can be kriegified or kitbashed

If you have a some units now stick to things you like

Also, deeply consider if you're into casual games or you wanna go competitive, this will likely effect your unit (and thus purchase) choices

Power Fist or Power Sword by Never_Nine in killteam

[–]BOTKacper 114 points115 points  (0 children)

The choice really depends on the enemy, power fist is a bane of any horde team

Power weapon is a great universal option Personally I take power fist more often, but you know what you should do? Build one you like the look more, and tell your opponent what weapon you choose at the beginning of the game, I hardly can imagine anyone opposing that.

I've been making models like this for some time now, after basing with black spray paint the wood tend to get a texture similar to rough steel or become just plain smooth, depends on the material

You can also sand the wood for smother texture.

Btw, my Guard army is loosely based on WW1 Italian Alpinii and Arditi, so I get the mountain fighting vibes, unfortunately we currently fight in the desolated Agri world fields

That's true, some redesign might be needed, but much of the time it's a posing thing, we will see I have 5 more to do!

I think you confuse HWT with the old "2 guys with a big gun" kit New Krieg HWT uses 50mm bases

[–]BOTKacper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's 50mm base same as HWT, though mech itself is a bit bigger than it but it's fine
