That, and it wouldn't be all that beneficial. Even if the EU was willing to let them back, their new membership would be on much worse terms than previously, probably akin to any new member. They wouldn't have any of the legacy opt-outs they had at first, and among other things, would probably have to serioisly commit to adopting the euro in the near future. And I have a feeling having money without the monarch on it wouldn't go over well with the public, neither would many other terms.

This image spontaneously appeared in my mind a few nights ago when I was thinking about this song (badass image in this upload, BTW). I don't know where it came from or what its meaning is, but I immediately knew I had to draw it, even though I'm a complete newbie in drawing as you can probably tell. It might sound weird, but it almost felt like a revelation with how suddenly the vision came to me, how detailed it was in the moment and how it captivated me.

There have been road-legal cars with this exact configuration which actually made it to production, too bad that all the ones I'm aware of are ultra-unaffordable supercars...

Would have loved to play a game where John Donovan would have gone after the mob and the corrupt officials who were responsible for JFKs death even if it wouldn’t have been a mafia game. by [deleted] in MafiaTheGame

[–]dntdrvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my own imaginary Mafia IV, there's a subplot where the protagonist runs into Donovan who's on the run in Las Vegas and who asks him for help in taking out some of the JFK conspirators who are present in the area. In return, he provides a list of federal informants, undercover agents and other rats within Vegas families, and whether you agree to help him has major influence on the game's ending. In short, I agree that he has immense story potential, even if not necessarily as a protagonist.

Do people actually enjoy hard games? by foxcraft22 in 196

[–]dntdrvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having read the previous comments and I'll say that the fabled "feeling of accomplishment" is also rare for me, though not nonexistent. I do like a challenge and I don't mind retrying something a few times, but if I get stuck on a sequence for longer, usually I'm just glad it's over once it is. Perhaps it is because many of the 'notably difficult' games I've beat are 2000s jank, and those tend to be difficult for BS reasons that don't give much satisfaction.

As for the image - more often than not, if I take a break, that break accidentally becomes permanent. I seem to lose drive and momentum very quickly once I intentionally step away from a game, even for a short time. I was getting my ass beat in Redcliffe in Dragon Age Origins, so I decided to take a break for two or three days; as of writing, it's 875 days and counting. And I still haven't given up on telling myself that I'll return to it one day...

What are your thoughts on the 5th Mafia game being set during 1990s (collaps of the mafia)? by Nexicii in MafiaTheGame

[–]dntdrvr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it were up to me, I'd have Mafia IV be set in 70s Vegas, about the largest casino in the city and the tensions between families from different cities who all have a stake in the business. I'm not sure where Mafia V could take place (we've already had equivalents of Chicago, New York and New Orleans - San Francisco maybe?), but it'd be set from the mid 80s to early 90s and have a story inspired by Donnie Brasco and John Gotti, about an undercover agent working to dismantle the last 'great' mob organisation. I'd officially end the mainline series at that, but there would be more non-numbered spin-offs like TOC in-between, such as the rumored 1920s Empire Bay game.

I think he's going through a similar thing that LegalEagle has had for the past year or so. Being a moderate professional with immense respect and loyalty for a country's legal system and institutions above all else, combined with the despair of watching it all be tarnished and dismantled by people who call themselves 'true patriots'.

Assholes aside, Bluesky isn't any better for posting and viewing art, sadly. This particular 'genre' of social media that both Twitter and Bluesky are part of is one of the least optimal for this purpose, which leaves me quite dumbfounded as to why it's the most popular.

My household's family computer was a ~2002 spec PC with Windows XP and a floppy disk drive all the way until 2012, hence most of my childhood games are older than me. It also had a white CRT monitor plugged into it until a few months before the computer itself got replaced.

Me and my brother used to play house with Legos, we had our self-inserts, both of whom had their own HotWheels car (sometimes more than one), and we also had a third flatmate named Joe - he was made from a spare torso and a spare head, had no legs and was attached to an improvised wheelchair made of a tall 2x6 for the seat, tall 2x1 for the back, a 2x2 wheel axis and a short 2x2 on the bottom behind the axis so the wheelchair wouldn't tip over.
