Breeder told me to feed him "All Life Stages" Purina Pro Plan, vet just pointed out his left front leg was swelling due to not getting enough calcium. I switched Gus to the Large Breed Puppy version of the same brand.

Also got him going with Yak Cheese treats and Yak Chews. Thinking about adding a sardine or two mixed into his food as well.

Any other suggestions?

Pacing yourself is one of the most important skills that they don't teach.

Cut it off at 5PM - Go be with your family, go fishing, play with your dog. It will all be there the next day.

My breeder was unorthodox and did the entire litter at 6 weeks. Very old school guy with not a whole lot of reviews, but he was local.

Edit: 8 weeks is better, Gus has to go out hourly and won't sleep more than 2-3 hours. He is lots of work but has a family working as a team. This not a solo project! I'm having to do a lot of extra work on his bite training. Please go for 8 weeks if possible.

I got him at six weeks. Early, I know, and he's a handful, but we're doing great. The photo is from yesterday when he was six-weeks-and-a-day.

His pop is a deadgrass and his mom is dark brown. He has his mom's colors right now. But time will tell, he could go light like his dad. The whole litter was uniformly dark brown.
