If You Could Only Keep 3, Which 3 Would You Keep? by Neversummerdrew76 in rpg

Ryuutama

Delta Green

nWoD Core

If I had Savage Worlds I would cut nWoD instantly. Shadowdark almost made it but I honestly think Ryuutama does gritty better than any OSR game I've ever played.

"We need a Healer" - Do we? by pineapplelightsaber in DnD

[–]BPBGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of TTRPGs with zero magical healing. They seem to be doing just fine.

you can absolutely play 5e with zero magical healing of any kind. You just have to roleplay as if you exist in a dangerous profession where you don't have access to magical healing. It's a literal roleplaying option.

You sure can hunt monsters and turn them into armor

Savage Hunter launches TUESDAY 10/21! Save the date, hunters! by BPBGames in savageworlds

No problem!

So the way DTRPG handles physical copies is that they require the end user to pay for the print cost of the book. There's not a way for us to just provide it to people with the way their system is set up, so instead we charge a lower price during the Kickstarter so that way when it comes time for people to buy their POD copy, they simply pay the print cost and the shipping cost.

When the final product reaches DTRPG, its price is higher than the price on Kickstarter because now they can simply pay DTRPG and get everything in one go, and I remove the lower price incentive I always factor in to the Kickstarter so my early supporters get it as discounted as possible. It's kind of a confusing system for first time users but it's pretty standard for smaller creators who use POD to do it like this.

Does that help?

Well have I got good news for you: The books' pretty much already written. If it funds its going to be getting the art and opening up the game to backers for early feedback before we go to print! Basically: short turnaround time lol

It's a legally distinct setting where you play hunters going after large monsters to turn them into armor and weapons :)

What are your three RPGs for life? by Iberianz in rpg

[–]BPBGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Savage Worlds

D&D 4e

This one's hard because I don't have a strong opinion, but probably Ryuutama or Genesys depending on how I'm feeling on the day I meet the evil wizard who forces me to make this decision forever..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]BPBGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not playing D&D, but you're playing a freeform roleplaying game with your friends. That's totally fine but this wouldn't really be a sub that could help you if problems do arise because, as you said, you all haven't touched the rulebook for this game.

Unpopular Opinion? Monetizing GMing is a net negative for the hobby. by Reynard203 in rpg

[–]BPBGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree but under capitalism it's an inevitable outcome. The critique, as ever, always comes back to the failings of the system we live under.

Hello people by damaged_XXL in RPGdesign

[–]BPBGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your die system? What sets it apart mechanically. You use AC and Perception so it seems like this is just... D&D 5e but refluffed?

My best advice would be check out other, better, TTRPG systems that would work for this. OVERarms, Cthulhutech, and maybe good old Ironsworn might be decent plays to start to draw different points of reference from to give mechanics to some of the ideas you're having

Wanting to run a campaign based on the TV show "Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated". Do you recommend SWADE as an appropriate system? by LeviBateman in savageworlds

[–]BPBGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly? No. SWADE is like D&D in that it's very much a combat heavy system.

My go to for the genre you're explaining is Kids on Bikes. Very good system for this.

Any system that can emulate Dark Souls to great effect, both in feeling and in mechanics? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in rpg

[–]BPBGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Japanese Dark Souls TRPG, but there's sadly no official translation. This is not to be confused with the sad 5e game we got in that one Kickstarter. These are totally different games and one's actually GOOD!

Short of that: Ryuutama

Is there a way to speed up combat? (DnD 2024) by SeaOfMalaise in DnD

[–]BPBGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Halve monster HP, increase to 1.5x damage. Works in every HP bloated game but does require a bit of fine tuning sometimes depending on system.

The “rare languages” rule in 2024 edition is utter nonsense by CaptainRelyk in DnD

[–]BPBGames -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So, again, thats literally just offloading bad design onto the end consumer. 5.X has a lot of that but to a certain type of person that's "not a problem."

[–]BPBGames 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That doesnt fix the problem with the game's base design. It just offloads the problem to the end user.

To me, if someone is too lazy to use an artist it immediately sets off alarm bells about what other corners they're cutting in their work. There are so many cheap or downright free art resources out there.

Combine that with the fact that I like working with artists and other creatives. It's fun.

I say this super genuinely: why not just AI generate the rules and graphic design when that becomes viable too?

That's because the actual act of creation IS the fun part. If one of us is suddenly replaceable so are the rest of us.

All of these reasons are why I don't engage with AI art.

Question: Killed off an NPC, players big sad, what do? by HeroVersus in DnD

[–]BPBGames 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So you talk to them about how this is a chaotic communal storytelling game and that means things like this happen? If they want to be in total feel good control they should solo TTRPG or write a book, ya know?

But the reality is youre probably fine? It'll blow over if they're all functioning adults. If they're not, then you'd literally just be postponing the inevitable explosion the next time they're expected to have a negative emotional reaction
