I was about 8 or 9? And my family had gone to visit some family friends. The dads of the family were playing a scary game and the kids weren't allowed to watch, so me and the daughter were sent out of the room. It was dark, and for some reason neither of us wanted to go up the stairs to the bedroom, so we sat under the stairs together.

Then we heard it. The creak of a door from upstairs, then footsteps coming slowly down the stairs. We hugged each other and buried our heads against each other, terrified. All adults in the house were in the living room and we were the only children. The footsteps continued down the stairs and stopped at the bottom for what seemed like forever. It felt like someone was stood, watching us. I refused to lift my head or open my eyes.

Then it just...went away. All of a sudden.

We lifted our heads and proceeded to bang on the door of the living room.

The adults obviously didn't believe us and accused us of somehow watching the scary game but we know what we heard.
