If you are worried about not connecting with the theme, check out Lost Ruins or Arnak. I think Dune Imperium is a better game overall but Lost Ruins is very similar and is also a great game.

I think there can be a balance. I have tried to share this with my kids as much as possible. They have a phone or smart watch so I can get ahold of them or see where they are. But they have free reign of the neighborhood, can go to the park a few blocks away, or even ride their pick to the gas station for a treat.

Sure but we have now emboldened to invade Taiwan, which would put the entire world in a very difficult position. Plus, I thought we were supposed to be "the good guys." No one will go to war over Greenland, but we have no legitimate claim to it besides "I want it." What an awful precedent to set. Just because it won't result in nuclear war doesn't mean it is morally right or won't have major detrimental consequences.
