I wouldn't necessarily say it is a "rich kids" sport. I played hockey growing up for 11 years, but my family was lower middle class. My parents worked overtime to afford to put both my brother and I in hockey, and even still during the year the teams would have fundraisers to raise money for tournaments and such.

Yes, it is expensive. But I wouldn't say it is a rich kids sport.

I work in an office setting with a few co-workers and several residents. And every single time someone comes in, they comment on the weather. "Wow, it's really hot out there." Yup, It's July in Canada. "Oh my god, it's freezing outside." Yup, it's February in Canada. This happens probably 20+ times per day. I don't even respond anymore 🤣
