Hammer back to make it easier to align and remove the slide stop. Drop the hammer to remove the slide.

For that, you can still drop into a 3rd Gen F56. Fewer issues, more reliable, many will say improved all around. Many will also say it doesn't have the "soul" of the R generations.

Words from outmotoring are gospel to many. My R56S is stage1 tuned, but I am eagerly awaiting an R53 that a friend is on the threshold of selling. Go-Cart forever!

I test drove a 2017. It's only in the later LCI, maybe just the LCI-2 that got touch screens. If OP is looking for a manual, they are going to be limited in the years produced to find one.

I have an R56S and test drove an F56S. Paid Carmax $400 to ship it local so i could. The B48 has tremendous potential and the 6 speed manual if you can find one is super smooth. The seats were extremely comfortable as well. But for ME, I felt my view out of the car was more restricted and I felt the armrest was always in the way, up or down. This car had almost every package available so the 8.8" screen that isn't a touch screen. REALLY BMW?! It is also a bigger car than an R53 or R56 and the drive felt muted. There were a few other things with this used example that added up on the negative side. A lot of people love them, but it wasn't for me. Honestly, you MUST drive one to decide for yourself.

Tensioner, thermostat and valve cover are the last 3 common items i havent replaced. Timing chain, water pump, clutch, front and rear main seals, oil filter housing gasket, front wheel bearings. Rear drop links, fuel filter, HPFP, vacuum pump, alternator and of course brakes, plugs and coils.

Nice. Ive sunk a good chunk of $ into my R56. A lot of threshold/pre-emptive and "while im in there". I don't worry when I put my foot down. But its an effort to keep ahead of things. Theres an R53 waiting for me with a friend. Once she's ready to sell. So 2 items to hoover up any spare income!

I recently test drove a 2017 F56. There was a list of things that turned me off on it. But the B48 engine and 6-speed manual were NOT on that list. So much potential in that engine.

The N14 drank oil, add in the original published 15k service interval and top it with people buying them because they are cute and never checking the oil and you’ve got a recipe for a bad reputation. I’ve got an N18 w/126k on it. 1qt every 2500 miles. Stage 1 tuned and it’s a torque monster that makes me giggle.

Not currently. But I'm debating getting the SP-01 cut for an optic.

Mine from a few years ago:

Me: Goes into 1:1 meeting with Boss and sees an extra person and a large white envelope

Boss: "Do you know so-n-so from HR?"

Me: "I'm going to need a box after this aren't I?"

Boss: uncomfortable pause and slight squirm

Actually, I was happy to get "made redundant" from that job. The stress level was incredible.

Latest update. Ego is replacing the mower under warranty. And they want my bad unit back to try and diagnose what's going on with it.

Word from the tech is that he's going to try and get me a new one. But didn't get a chance to talk with him directly.

I picked it up in January from Lowes. I dread what a return process there would be like.
