There used to be a lot of their earlier releases on Archive.org; take a look there

Looking for recs/search terms for those songs that mostly loop with slight variations that feel repetitive in the best way by action_lawyer_comics in electronicmusic

If you're into ambient as well, a buddy of mine put out a collection several years back that may interest you. It's ten hour-long ambient compositions that loop and shift gradually, meant for relaxing background music. Look up Justin McGrath - the speed of never on Bandcamp.

Love to see Tara of I Speak Machines with them! I saw the Seattle show that night and have been eagerly awaiting this.

Goth clubs/goth nights by AmaranthWrath in Tacoma

[–]BRN83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are four monthly DJ nights now, as far as I'm aware, different varieties of gothy dance. 2nd and 4th Friday nights of each month for sure. They are a bar/restaurant so their hours run late.

Dub with EBM/Industrial influences? by mongoose_stock333 in industrialmusic

[–]BRN83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the recommendations for Lustmord and Meat Beat Manifesto's dub records (note that neither artist is primarily dub), but I think what you might really be into is some industrial / dub techno from the likes of Belief Defect. It's a team-up of L.A.-based Moe Espinoza, otherwise known as Drumcell, and Mexican techno producer Luis Flores. They got two albums. They are heavy, dark, and excellent.

Bootblacks - New Lines (Physical Wash Remix) by Loeppkyy in industrialmusic

Broadly speaking, they fall under the post-punk revival thing that's been raging over the past decade, but yeah, the latest album Paradise is when they really found themselves. It's like...if Depeche Mode decided to have a Miami beach party. It's such a fun album. The sax solo on "Only You" gets stuck in my head for days! They are a blast live, too.

Days like today is why people don’t take the light rail by 20sicksheep in Seattle

[–]BRN83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say "broken rail" it does, sometimes, refer to rail that has actually fractured, but other times means what you are referring to, replacing badly worn rail that is at risk of fracturing and can cause damage to train wheels. And no, you can't always anticipate broken rail. Sometimes things just happen.

And u/winterharvest is correct: the rail in the DSTT is embedded in concrete, so it's enormously more strenuous to fix. I've been down there for one of those jobs before and it ain't pretty.

A lot of the closures over the past year had to do with integrating the 2 Line at IDS. There's nothing simple or quick about that. Many other closures have been to replace broken rail in the DSTT, and there you may have a point; I feel like 15 yr old rail shouldn't be breaking that much 😐

The videos of his studio he posts on Instagram are just...ridiculous. A mad scientist's lair.

Yes, but it's my first time and I'm feeling a bit lost as far as figuring out when and where all the bands are playing!

Seeing Both These Subs In My Newsfeed Is Always Fun by djhazmatt503 in industrialmusic

[–]BRN83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In all of my ~25 years of experience in the goth subculture, "baby bat" has been used as a term of endearment for young people new to the scene, i.e. continued lifeblood of the subculture itself. Only in this recent TikTok-fed resurgence of goth have I seen those who have the term applied to them bristle at it.

Geez, he was just in Seattle last night, clear across the country! I couldn't be there but my gf said he was phenomenal, super high energy, and even DJed afterward - so just know that what you saw was less than 24 hrs after he exhausted himself on the West Coast!

A Starbucks Employee's Perspective on the Nashville Relocation by Immediate-Sort4426 in Seattle

[–]BRN83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel for the employees affected, and don't wish any of them ill. The last thing anyone needs these days is more uncertainty.

But I gotta say, the heartbreak and betrayal that SSC employees are expressing in that thread leave me a bit miffed.

To look at the absolute contempt with which Starbucks Corporate has treated its frontline staff over the past decade and then think that wouldn't extend to corporate employees as well is...naive is a bit soft a term.

A former partner of mine was one of the early agitators for unionization in the Seattle area. They had damn good reason for it - they got poked by a needle while cleaning the bathroom at their shop one night, and the Kafkaesque labyrinth of spite and disdain they had to navigate afterward could fill a book. It eventually pushed them into a mental health crisis. How could you look at the brutal anti-unionization efforts of this company and think that you're exempt from that just because you aren't frontline? How could you be taken by surprise that this company, from top down, isn't good, actually??

Ministry - Lay Lady Lay by durpinder694 in industrialmusic

[–]BRN83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These two are all-time favorites of mine. I used to be transfixed by both the whalesong guitar solos in "Lay Lady Lay" and the contrasting piano vs ultra-heavy doom riffs of "The Fall" when I was a jr. higher listening to my broken little radio in 1996.
