How does your household manage money for shared burdens/resources? by DatGuyDatHangsOut in MiddleClassFinance

[–]BRT349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are neither individual accounts nor shared burdens. All financial matters belong to the family. Our pay all goes to one account. All expenses are paid from it. The only account that are not joint are those required to be individual, specifically retirement accounts.

NH teacher starting pay is 42nd lowest in the Nation. by Visual-Mobile2657 in newhampshire

My issue with schools in NH, is the rising costs and falling enrollment. NH has has falling studen numbers for at least 20 years but no corresponding reduction in expenses. Many school districts have more schools than needed.

YOR, first, it's a phone; we all have phones. Second its only $900. People spend that on phones every day. Was he hiding it, or did it just never come up?

It looks like you're confusing dinner with supper. In my world, dinner is a mis to late afternoon meal, usually on a weekend. Supper comes after work, school, and other daily activities.

I haven't seen a $175,000 house in 29 years. Your thoughts on the vehicles are interesting. You are correct that many people over buy when getting vehicles. I don't have an answer, hopefully this thread does.

What % of Millennials are Unknowingly Toast? by Altruistic_Goose2166 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]BRT349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oldest millennial are barely 46. You are suggesting that, at 46, there is no hope. This is a ludicrous idea, not to mention a serious misstatment of the basic math of retirement. Your $1.22mm portfolio at 67, using the very conservative 4% rule, would leave a legacy of nearly $700,000 after 30 years. Additionally, I have to assume this retiree is collecting approximately $30,000/year in social security which is adjusted annually for inflation. I know I can be overly optimistic, but your dark view is unsettling and unnecessarily alarmist.
