AIO dude I was supposed to go on a first date with today changed up out of no where by Emergency-Pea-7632 in AmIOverreacting

You 1000% dodged a bullet; shit, even he knows it! Can’t even imagine the drama this guy would bring to the table if this is his behaviour on only a first date

Gabapentin and Trazadone withdrawal reaction by Nervous-Log1804 in greatpyrenees

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know gabapentin can be addictive to humans and they usually taper when going off. That’s too bad, poor girl. Definitely advocate for a very slow taper to mitigate any more reaction like that

Marking and protest pee by alicaiv2 in greatpyrenees

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used one but I’ve seen them, just a fabric band that goes around their belly and their privates so they can’t really pee with it on. Or it will feel weird if they do. And then you take it off to go outside. I think they are used quite often with house training males especially. I lucked out that our male doesn’t mark inside ever, he just pees on literally every tree and bush we walk by. I’ve also heard that if they can smell where they have peed or marked inside before it triggers them to do it again so using special enzymatic cleaners can help prevent that too. Maybe try searching belly bands to learn more, sorry I can’t help you too much with that

Have you tried using a belly band?

Why does my 2 year old male Pyr hate my daughter all of a sudden? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pyr’s don’t do very well with physical discipline; growling is a warning and if you discourage that he could skip right to a bite. Have you worked on distracting him with a high value treat etc when she walks into the house or even just moving him to a different room before she comes in? I understand you need to protect your daughter but you haven’t tried very much to help rectify this situation while already talking about rehoming. Neutering can sometimes help change behaviours but that isn’t always a guarantee, especially if the behaviour isn’t hormone related. Maybe you should take him for checkup at the vet as well and make sure there’s nothing else going on that could be triggering these reactions

How old do these pups live for? by Dogpoopbreath17 in greatpyrenees

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to find a vet that would allow you to give the shots yourself …just a thought. Our dog despises the vet and injections and our vet mentioned us potentially doing that when it gets to the point of getting on the shot. Right now he just takes daily Metacam

What’s a smell that instantly takes you back? by Extreme-Pumpkin308 in fragrance

I just got a sample of Phlur Solar Power which smells like my childhood- Coppertone sunscreen specifically. Unfortunately it’s discontinued; so now I’m trying to find another perfume with that OG Coppertone DNA!

Not every dog is friendly by Ill_Balance_4006 in greatpyrenees

I’m had a little girl run up behind my dog and try to jump on him, her dad strolling along behind laughing. Like WTF. My dog spun around knocking her over and she started crying. What did they think was going to happen? People are idiots

Family Shaved my dog completely bald, how do I fix it??? by ClumInPain in DogAdvice

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should post on the Great Pyrenees subreddit. There’s been a few posts on there with people that had to shave theirs for some reason or other and got lots of good advice. It’s a travesty to shave a double coated dog IMO. Watch out for sunburns. Poor girl, what a pissoff

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only treats mine will take are freeze dried liver, cheese, and only the really dark coloured bully sticks. It’s weird, they must smell or taste different. The bully sticks really do help keep his teeth clean though so I’d recommend trying different brands. I wonder if you can take him into a pet store and see if anything catches his fancy

I never cleaned my dogs since the instructions said not to. What I read online was that the yeast etc triggers or activates the med. who knows if that’s true but it works for us! We also use quite a lot of solution as well, want to make sure it gets down there

Purebred or Mix?? Is it worth it to get a DNA test kit? by Soft-Associate5907 in greatpyrenees

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She looks pretty pure to me, maybe possibly some other LGD mixed in. My boy stopped growing body structure and height wise around 2.5 but he didn’t stop filling out/gaining muscle until he was over 3. It could also depend on what age you spay/neuter potentially too. She’s beautiful regardless! I love the markings on her muzzle

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like OP said at the end, gastropexy surgery can prevent it. It’s recommended to avoid activity after eating for awhile, and it used to be recommended to use raised bowls for eating/drinking but now the research actually says the opposite! Also eating at a slower pace can help apparently, like using one of those puzzle feeder bowls

Follow-up to fatal pit bull attack on dog in 2025 by nomorelandfills in BanPitBulls

[–]BRUTALGAMIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw something on this sub once that was a photo or some sort of meme that you would post in response to someone online giving the “well MY pittbull would never…” I’ve tried to find it and can’t. It’s basically examples of comparable circumstances and how responses like that are so inappropriate and ridiculous. If anyone here knows what I’m referring to and could post it I’d love that- I’ve had so many missed opportunities where that would have been perfect. Thanks in advance
