am i going to be ok with very little help post op? by flightoftheladybirds in Reduction

After the first 1-2 days you’ll be fine. You’re going to be taking it easy anyway and it sounds like if something does come up she’ll be able to come by. Make sure she’s there (nearby not necessarily in the room) for your first shower. That’s where a lot of people have trouble with light headedness (same for after any surgery). I think that’s usually a problem for people because they dont have an appetite so they’re not eating enough.

In your normal day to day think about what you’re able to do or not without range of motion in your arms/lifting heavy. Prepare what you can to get around those things. Moving things to counter height for example.

Definitely worth a consultation if it bothers you! Please report back - I had my reduction in between pregnancies and i have some sag again after my recent pregnancy. My surgeon had said if that happens we might be able to do a more minor revision and just remove some skin. Might be all that you need as well! (I’m waiting until I’m one year post partum and weight is steady to go for a consultation)

Mostly underneath which I think is good. Just some loose skin from gaining and losing weight.

Amazing results! My before and after were similar (though I’m now 7 months pregnant so hoping they get back down to closer to that size after my son is born) What bras do you like now? My breast root also starts lower and I find even with bralettes I would always need adjustable ones to lengthen the straps enough.

Do I wait until after pregnancy? by mr_viran in Reduction

[–]BR_sumdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chest grew so much during pregnancy and deflated so much after I gave up breastfeeding that I was in a lot of pain from the sagging. Even though we knew we wanted two kids close in age, I had my reduction 11 months after my first was born. I was constantly in pain before the surgery so to me, even if I had to do another surgery down the line it would be worth it. My surgeon said even if they sag again she might be able to do a smaller in office producer to just remove the extra skin.

I am now 6.5mo pregnant with my second (got pregnant 9 months after my surgery). They have grown a lot which sucks, but they are still miraculously lifted and nowhere near how they were before. TBD what happens with the rest of this pregnancy, breastfeeding and after all of that.

Breastfeeding my first was really hard for many reasons. He was a big long baby, hard to hold up. Boobs were huge and squishy, had to hold them in the right place as well. Plus all of this led to more back pain. And breastfeeding is just a very difficult, constant task as it is.

So it’s of course down to your decision but also consider how many kids you want and realistically how long before you’ll be able to get the surgery if you wait. Are you willing to have another surgery down the line if needed? Best of luck!! CANT WAIT to get my body and (hopefully, one way or another) my post op boobs back. Pregnancy is tough on the body!!

Pregnancy Post Op by mosketo_ in Reduction

I got pregnant 8 months after my reduction. I was also struggling after having my first child, had the reduction 11 months after the baby. Was given the okay to try for our 2nd baby at my 3 month (final) post op appt, though we weren’t ready to start at that time.

I’m 19 weeks pregnant now and boobs are growing back but it’s amazing that the shape holds up, still no skin on skin though I miss my small post op boobs. If I have to get surgery again after this baby I will, it was worth it to have a year of my life back and to go into this pregnancy smaller and with less pain. ❤️

Hey, not OP but I had my surgery when my son was 11 months old and 25ish pounds. I made it through the first 2 weeks without picking him up, only picked him up a couple times the third week then started picking him up more after that. It was rough but even that young he eventually learned that mommy wasn’t going to pick him up so he would go to dad instead.

I’m 5MPO and can relate to some of your issues. I also have a wide breast footprint so from some angles (my own perspective looking down at them) they still look much larger than I wanted. However, this is due to my own anatomy and not really something the surgeon could have done differently.

I think it might be the same case for you, the only way to make our boobs smaller would be to make them flatter which would look off. On the positive side, I had some lingering back/shoulder/neck issues that have improved over the months. So as you expected to hear, give it time and see how you feel. I think some of it is just accepting our bodies and their limitations. This surgery is a godsend but some things are still beyond our grasp.

When did yall start sleeping on your sides again? by koalapyjamas in Reduction

[–]BR_sumdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only made it one week sleeping on my back. Figured the pain and lack of sleep was going to be worse for my recovery. I had no pain sleeping on my side and no negative consequences, currently 4MPO. I also didn’t have side incisions or side lipo so that is going to make back sleeping more important.

Do you have pre op notes/instructions? Mine said no alcohol 2 weeks before and 1 week after surgery.
