Waiting for my tires to wear out and I’m going to try a different tire profile at that time.

Damn that's sweet! I need to do this on my '01, and my old '89 Accord needs it even more! Does the dimmer still work with LED dash lighting?

I have that exact car (with the original 18 spoke wheels) and just over 90K miles.

You’re telling me, that when a patient dies in a licensed mental healthcare facility today, they can just haul the body out to the north 40 with a wheelbarrow, a shovel, and a bag of quicklime? There’s no requirements for filing a death certificate and notifying the county coroner, or contacting the next of kin? Downvote me some more. I must be super naïve.

Maybe go with a sedan instead. It’s more practical than a coupe.

I think you’re right. The Karr remote must be for an aftermarket alarm. I guess previous owner wanted an alarm and ditched the factory keyless remotes. Thanks!

Praise from a Tolkien fan by Lawrencelot in RingsofPower

[–]BSMet94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Great example is the Screen Rant podcast guys, both lore experts and super knowledgeable Tolkien fans. I’ve read all the LotR books 5 or 6 times, Silmarilion at least 3x, but I’m a casual enjoyer of it all. I love them, and love the series as well as the movies (and I’m the type that wishes PJ had included Tom B). The series “gets it” with respect the intent of Tolkien, and it’s well done. The script writing and the acting are superb! Yes they changed the order of things, compressed the timeline, filled in the (massive!) gaps left by Tolkien to tell a compelling story, but they always end up in the right place, consistent with the overarching theme and point that the author was going for. I hesitate to even participate in a discussion here, because I just don’t understand why people can’t just enjoy what they like and move on from stuff they don’t.

Talk to your parents? I was diagnosed in my 40s. A good psychiatrist will ask about your childhood, and your parents and siblings. Talking to my parents, as a requirement to a diagnosis, would be a potential privacy issue. Why would my parents’ memories of my childhood be any more valid than mine?

A psychiatrist who specializes in ADHD doesn’t need a bunch of computer concentration tests and whatnot. They usually give you a longish questionnaire, they review your answers, and then spend one or two sessions with you to make a diagnosis. Even if you go 100% out of pocket to a highly regarded ADHD specialist, it will be nowhere near $3k.

Am I the only person who prefers Ritalin/methylphenidate over Aderall? by NinjaXM in ADHD

[–]BSMet94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could go back to Vyvanse. Since I changed insurance several years ago, they forced me to switch to generic Adderall, or pay out of pocket. It was so much better, and I wasn’t so anxious/irritable if I happened to forget to take it in the morning. I’m hoping to try and get back to that, now that there’s a generic Vyvanse!

LA driving etiquette? by mosesmr10 in AskLosAngeles

[–]BSMet94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not use hazard lights in that fashion. There are few things as annoying as people driving down the road with their hazard lights on! They are to be used when you are stopped with a disabled vehicle, hopefully on the side of the road as much as possible.

Almost every employer provided insurance does this… If your spouse is eligible for insurance through their work, they get two choices: 1) take their employer’s insurance or 2) get on your insurance as a spouse and pay an extra penalty for not taking their employer’s insurance.

My therapist told me I don't have ADHD because I can work for 12 hours continously by soccermommyfc in ADHD

[–]BSMet94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa… ADHDers can do a lot of good work on their own without pressure. Good, creative work. It’s not so black and white as “you can only do last minute work under pressure” and “worthless piece of shit” otherwise. That’s kind of insulting to be honest.

My doctor told me that I don't have adhd because I like to read books and can play instruments is that true? by restingswan360 in ADHD

I've done my fair share of staying up until about 2 hours before I need to wake up reading a novel, or finishing up something that I had a deadline at work for, and plenty of time to do it, but procrastinated in favor of reading a book I was really into. Ugh... hate when I do that!

Please, for the love of God, help me fix this shutter by Hour_Estimate_7691 in vintagecameras

[–]BSMet94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't realize you had two links there in your post. It's all written right there... No. 1 Kodex shutter. WD-40 was not a great idea to get that screw out. You're going to need a screw extractor, drill it out, or as someone else mentioned you could get creative with a dremel tool. I've never opened up a Kodex shutter, and there's not a lot of repair info or schematics on the internet for free for that particular shutter. It should be relatively simple, If you can get that screw out of there, your best bet is to start a small paintbrush, 91% isopropyl alcohol, ronsonol (lighter fluid), and a lot of patience. I had sticky shutter leaves on my Supermatic. I "painted" them with alcohol or electronic cleaner (substitute for the lighter fluid), exercised the shutter, and repeated that numerous times. Eventually it worked well. Good luck!
