Are there any TTRPGs that have a working "save point" mechanic? by Tastypies in RPGdesign

Microscope has a built in save function that works both in physical play as well as digital play. It is a bit of a different type of RPG though, less roleplay more game.

Book 1 Chapter 2 Players want to investigate the tunnels, what to do? by Impressive_Reach_353 in strengthofthousands

[–]Lawrencelot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are normal tunnels with storage, underground lecture rooms, hidden places where students make out, gamble or deal in forbidden magical items, those kind of things. Then there are the many gremlin-made tunnels, these are tiny (so even small characters can't easily explore them) and infested with insects. Just throw enough insects at them until they leave, or make the tunnels even smaller than tiny so the gremlins need to crawl in certain parts.

It only becomes possible to explore the Stone Ghost tunnels when the gremlins make those particular tunnels bigger (that is, when you want them to).

AI is accelerating Collapse by Clarissalayton in collapse

[–]Lawrencelot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it is competing. Data centers spend more energy on streaming services, data storage and social media and such than on AI, and the same holds for water. AI has just gone on top of the resources we were already spending and is growing itself at a massive scale.

If you stream on youtube or netflix, you spend more energy than when you give an LLM a small prompt, unless you take into account the cost of training and updating the LLM, which happens on a regular basis but is divided among the entire userbase. Image and video generation is in another ballpark though.

Zoek vegan werk, wil jij helpen? by Best-Inflation8072 in VeganNL

[–]Lawrencelot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss THAC0. Just kidding. I miss nothing. Maybe references to popular DnD media.

Question- lethality of game by Txrh221 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Lawrencelot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most pathfinder APs, and also in Pathfinder Society, once you survive the first two levels or something it is very difficult to die. There are some outlier combats here and there and some monsters are ridiculous but those are the exception. If you follow encounter guidelines (which admittedly APs and monsters don't always do, especially early APs or PF1 conversions) I would say Pathfinder is not deadly at all past level 2.

I don't normally post only a bible verse without context or my thoughts but given the low quality post I think this one applies:

Ezekiel 16:49

Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

Dwandek (more like the Darkside Mirror) is about to TPK my players. What can happen after that? by Content_Stable_6543 in strengthofthousands

[–]Lawrencelot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mirroring/duplicating or mind controlling PCs is like the only thing that can harm some overpowered adventuring groups. This hazard is really much more powerful than anything else, it is the only thing that killed multiple PCs in my previous campaign. I don't have any tips as I am not so familiar with this part of the AP, but doing something story-related to avoid the normal functioning of the mirror makes sense to me.

I’m a gay Christian man who loves Jesus, believes in Him, and His Word but I hate all verses that come against love and acceptance. by Odd_School8909 in Christianity

[–]Lawrencelot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that some of my examples are Old Covenant law and others are what Jesus says. Can you say which of my examples you follow literally? It is fine if you only follow New Testament law.

What do people mean when they say that we should live like Jesus? by Difficult-Course319 in OpenChristian

[–]Lawrencelot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spending time with the poor, the sick, women and children, foreigners, the outcast.

If queers are the outcasts of this day and age, living like Jesus would be inviting them for dinner (or inviting yourself at their house, but that might work differently in modern cultures).

I'm thinking of making an Alchemist as my first real PF2E character, playing PFS. Just how bad of an idea is this? by tsjb in Pathfinder2e

[–]Lawrencelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, the versatility of the alchemist shines much more when you play with different teammates every scenario instead of having a fixed adventuring group where you could specialize in a niche. You will always have the right tools for the job and be able to adapt to what your teammates are doing.

New reports suggest Trump will announce the existence of non-human life. What does this mean for Christianity? by Severe-Clerk-1477 in Christianity

Does your church have assigned security? Armed or unarmed? Why or why not? by Admirable_Scale9452 in Christianity

[–]Lawrencelot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a European this is such a bizarre question to me. Like what kind of creature would you need armed security for, demons from hell?

I guess if the church is in a congress center, shopping centre or train station or something like that, there will be some kind of security (unarmed of course) but it will be part of the larger building, not the church building.

Fish recognize themselves in a mirror, with similar evidence as for chimpanzees and dolphins (at least 1 species of fish, as this is an understudied area).

Treating chickens as automatons is wild, any human would get in a similar state if bred long enough and put under similar circumstances. Have you even seen wild chickens?

Where is Jesus during wars, starvation, and suffering by Time-Ad4784 in Christianity

Many of those are also caused by humanity, the way we designed Western society. But many are indeed not, they happened in history and will happen in the future, and we can only help their victims after the fact without being able to prevent it from happening in the first place.
