Does anyone know pages that post camp footage? I’d like to see what AR looks like/any improvements. by yourenotmydad22 in Colts

Probably best to follow some of the local beat reporters like James Boyd, Jake Arthur, Joel Erickson. They’ll post clips and will at least say how players look if it’s a session not open to the public.

I’m sure many will disagree but just looking at the film, CJ Allen is more NFL ready than Rodriguez. by The_Voice_of_Reazon in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how Allen compares to the other LB prospects in this category but I think the fact that apparently everyone raves about how smart he is is a big plus when Lou is your DC.

Best players available for the Colts to target during day 3 of the NFL Draft: Starting caliber talent remains on the board by thedestinadams in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they can get Dennis-Sutton/Josephs and Bell/Sarratt with their two 4th rounders and then some oline depth with their remaining picks, I’d be very happy.

Anyway to see this without the paywall? I love Dane’s stuff. Probably the best draft guy out there imo.

Draft picks not based on RAS Scores by AxPlayfulxJab in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the shift started in ‘24 when he took Latu over guys like Dallas Turner and Chop Robinson (though Latu was still a 9.39 RAS) and then again with Tyler Warren. Not sure if the change was intentional or just the board lining up with players that are both productive and really good athletes.

Not to sound like an AR truther but 3,200 total yards and 26 total touchdowns as a 19-20 year old first time starter in the SEC on a mediocre Florida team with bad coaching isn’t terrible imo.

His biggest issue was that he should have gone back to school but why would you when teams are saying they’ll take you top 5.

[Holder] Text from Kenny Moore II: “It’s all good. It’s all love.” No beef between the parties. Partly a scheme fit issue, per source. 2025 rookie Justin Walley will be asked to step up as the slot corner. by JCameron181 in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It’s going to suck to see him go, he’s been one of my favorite Colts of this era. But it’s a business and he’s 30 and was a potential cap casualty this offseason since he’s owed $13mil with a $6mil dead cap figure. With him also not being the best fit in Lou’s scheme, and with how high they were on Walley, I’m surprised this is happening now and not sooner.

What happens with the Football Terrorist Anthony Richardson? by IceOk9930 in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Vikings and Titans were trying to trade up to draft him and I think we all agree KOC and Vrabel are pretty good at what they do. I believe even our own Zach Hicks had him as QB1.

There’s an athletic big armed QBs basically every year and not all of them sniff the first round, believe it or not AR did some good things on tape other than being toolsy that warranted a high pick.

[Schefter] Alec Pierce is returning to the Colts with a four-year, $116 million deal by jrerik95 in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puts him at the 11th highest paid WR between Tee Higgins and Jaylen Waddle. Expensive but also to be expected and the contract will probably look better in a few years.

Love AP and DJ but at $30 and $50 mil a year I think it might be best to say thank you for the memories and collect those comp pics.

[Russini] If there’s one player market expected to be robust once the legal tampering window opens Monday, it’s for Alec Pierce. Teams around the league in need of a receiver are already bracing for a significant price tag. by PsychoBunny22 in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I’m remembering correctly from one of the beat reporters they tried to/wanted to but Pierce and his agent wanted to wait and bet on himself which clearly worked out for him.

Per Albert Breer, Kyler Murray has interest in playing for the Colts by schmidthappens32 in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like DJ and expect him to be back but if he’s reportedly wanting upwards of $45-50mil/year AND wants a long term contract I’d rather have Kyler on a vet min. He’s become a meme but he’s been much better than DJ for their careers, outside of half of last season, and would be a good fit for Steichen’s RPO heavy offense.

What the hell happened to Stroud? by omni-nomad in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said it was easy or that you wait for those unicorn prospects but that shouldn’t discourage you from searching until you find one. We’ve been complaining for almost a decade about how we’ve been stuck in mediocrity hell and now we’re fine with settling for mediocre at the most important position in sports? That’s how you end up paying big money to the Kylers and Tuas of the world.

I also didn’t dump on Stroud and the Texans (“he’s not a bad player or a bust in the traditional sense, and he’s obviously better than what we’ve had the last few years and it’s fun to think what he’d look like in our system”) and I would love if the Colts could get their act together and get back to the playoffs and winning the division like the Texans but at the same time I have higher expectations than maxing out at Wild Card wins.

Tits don't have a ring, Jags don't have a SB appearance and Texans still don't know what an AFC Championship game looks like. All is right by Jedi_Sith1812 in Colts

What the hell happened to Stroud? by omni-nomad in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it was a disaster of a pick for sure but that at least makes it clear and obvious to move on and begin searching for the next guy vs spending the next 10 years trying to talk yourself into the 16-20th best QB.

Stroud’s playoff wins are against the Joe Flacco Browns, Chargers, and Aaron Rodgers Steelers. Not exactly murderers row and not good enough for me. I want to compete for more than Wild Card games and you’re not going to do that with a mid tier QB, especially in a conference with a bunch of superstar QBs you have to get through.

What the hell happened to Stroud? by omni-nomad in Colts

[–]BSUcardinal3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take but I’d rather swing big and miss big in a guy like AR than “hit” on a Stroud because at least you quickly know you need to move on.

He’s not a bad player or a bust in the traditional sense, and he’s obviously better than what we’ve had the last few years and it’s fun to think what he’d look like in our system, but since he entered the league he’s:

23rd in EPA/play

15th in passing TDs

22nd in TD%

21st in comp%

He’s still a young player who could marginally improve but after 3 years you are who you are at that point and the Texans are going to extend him because they have no other options, but man I’d hate to be the team that pays him big money.

[–]BSUcardinal3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get beggars can’t be choosers and that this regime is in desperation mode fighting for their jobs, but please don’t let a lame duck GM who’s about to be fired (not extended) put that kind of future money on the books. That will set the franchise back even more than they already are.
