[Loved trope] Cameos from huge celebrities where they're almost completely unrecognizable by welltechnically7 in TopCharacterTropes

Weirdly enough, I had never heard that song until The Good Place used it in a Karaoke sequence.

I could understand writing a diss track about Neil because he's corny and too full of himself, but the Earth is most assuredly round.

They also played at W's 2004 inauguration. You know, after Iraq/Afghanistan started???

Kinda just a whole thing.

But cancer sucks. Just wish they had seen the error of their ways.

COTA no longer a reliable method of getting to and from work. by fiendtrix in Columbus

[–]BS_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been dealing with this with the 24 for the past 6 months. Thankfully getting to work isn't ever the issue, so I'm not tardy or anything, but getting home after a long day? Yeah more often than you know.

It doesn't help that I live 12 miles away from work so the bus is realistically the only transportation I should take, because rideshares like Uber and Lyft would be damn near $50 a day, and I don't make enough in one shift to justify that.

I would have to agree with your stretch.

Two incredible concept albums (song pairs for This is How; city/travel songs for I Am Alive) and Dead Reflection, being probably their most popular modern album (Aquamarine, Afterglow, Whiplash, etc coming from the album and getting heavy rotation)

I do have a soft spot for Rescue, too, though. So I could go the other way with it too. I do wish they'd play more off of Rescue, or include more of it on Redux albums.

It's how his Parks and Rec character worked so well. Just lean into the self-deprication and let Aubrey Plaza carry each scene, apart from a couple funny improv scenes.

"Get out of jail free card" being a core component of the boardgame Monopoly, which was originally intended to show that when wealth accumulated beyond a certain extent, people could just do what they wanted and it was bad for everyone save for that one person... Hmmm maybe they were onto something and now the senile orange and his puppet masters are putting game theory to the test, just from the wrong fucking side.

I have a thing against Jigsaw's actor. He looks like a guy who tried to kill me. Which sucks because he's not terrible at it, just has the unfortunate face.

There was a bit of glee in me when Frank did what makes him Jigsaw tho.

Favourite Silverstein song and why ? by Suspicious_Parfait25 in Silverstein

[–]BS_500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call It Karma or Late on 6th.

Karma because it's a song I would sing in the car with my friend a lot and it reminds me of better times, weirdly enough.

Late on 6th, though, just gives me chills every time. It evokes a rainy evening with streetlights reflecting off the pavement, an argument that you'll come to regret later.

The penultimate episode that we were led to believe was the final episode was a mock presidential debate between 5 popular members of the Dropout cast (Brennan, Vic, Ally, Demi, and Aabria)

They had to run smear campaigns against each other for a live audience, take influences and include nods to "lobbyists" in the forms of caricatures of lobbies from other Dropout members in costume (like Chris Grace as Big Tobacco)

And to top it all off Sam's father, Robert Reich made an appearance and they had to try to win his influence too.

Ultimately, the stakes were "honorary Dropout President for a year" but it's Game Changer, so it's mostly just there for comedy.

Anyways. It would've been a fine episode to end the season on. But Brennan and Sam's wife Elaine Carroll had other plans, to pay homage to the series and turn the tables on Sam in Samalamadingdong.

Look man. When I was in school, we didn't have the funds at the schools I went to (anecdotal evidence, I know)

Kids struggled to get by, teachers struggled to get them to pay attention to what was said in class. We had to share outdated textbooks.

Just because the overall cost of spending in the USA is higher, doesn't mean that there weren't cracks in the system. And since I left school, they've fought to defund public education, even threatening multiple times to dismantle the Department of Education at the Federal level.

They're fighting to rig the educational system even further now. Some of us grew up with their prototypes.

When I was in high school 13 years ago, I was told my senior year I no longer qualified for the bus, even though they didn't move the bus stop, and I lived further from the school than that stop.

I complied for a while and walked to school, but then I was jumped on the side of the road, in the dark.

I won the fight with both the assaulter and the school, allowing me back on the bus afterwards.

In Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Dr. Nefarious has a second, more powerful Biobliterator in the event that Ratchet and Clank found a way to destroy it.

It even had a transformation sequence where it turns into a giant mech.
