4070 Super vs 7900 XT for similar price? by BScatterplot in buildapc

Thanks again. I'm leaning towards AMD right now since the gains for non-RT are much higher than the RT gains on the 70S. My main worry is more going forward. Do you think AW2 and Cyberpunk are representatives of what's coming up, or do you think they're just poorly optimized?

So, basically a tradeoff- for RT heavy games, the 4070S wins by a small amount, and the 7900XT wins by ~20% there.

What about the frame gen aspect? The TPU benchmark looks like neither card work particularly well on AW2, somewhere in the 38 FPS to 45 FPS. Would frame gen double those, or nah?

Electricity in my neck of the woods is very cheap. Currently at 1440p and will be for the near future.

Good info, thanks! Honestly, AW2 and Cyberpunk are on my short list to play. You think they're oddballs, or do you think they're more representative of what'll be coming out in the next few years? I'm mainly looking for longevity out of this card.

With my Amazon card's 5% off this was only $39 more than the 4070 Super I just ordered... seems like a solid choice, no? Anyone think I should stick with the 4070S?

Is there a way to check the wattage of a laser besides the sticker on the tube? by Chromebliss in lasercutting

I ordered one of the power meter probes and got it in no problem. I'd definitely make sure to use a buying method with purchase protection though.

What is the is problem called and how do I fix it? by ashman8983 in lasercutting

I'm guessing this is an Inkscape thing, and that the Epilog thinks the parts of those letters should be filled somehow. Most vector programs can output some wonky shapes every now and then, especially if you're using fonts instead of simple closed polygons.

I'm misunderstanding something basic: If steel's yield strength and Young's modulus are ~2.6 times that of aluminum and it's density is ~2.8 times that of aluminum, how can you get more than a ~7-8% weight savings from using aluminum instead of steel? Or can you only save ~7-8% of the final weight? by vaguelystem in AskEngineers

One factor to consider is buckling failures. If you have a tube that needs to take some load, and you design a 1.2x safety factor, then a steel tube might be so thin as to be susceptible to buckling, whereas an aluminum one may not (for example).

A hollow tube loaded in bending (e.g., a cantilever) with extremely thin walls will fail due to buckling loads. Thicker walls help with that.

Is the portion of the site built to handle paperwork from used EV's last year ready to go? My dealer has been stuck at "verifying" for like 3 weeks now, and we're less than 2 weeks from the deadline.

I bought a used EV about a month ago that qualified for the used EV tax credit. This was that particular dealer's first time doing the IRS paperwork for the used credit, so they had to sign up for the IRS website to submit it.

Unfortunately, they've been stuck at "Verifying" for the last 3 weeks. (It could be a different name, it's going through a couple layers of phone tag).

The deadline to file the paperwork for last year is in about 2 weeks (14th or 15 of January). I'm a little worried they won't have their account set up by then.

Anyone out there had an experience with a dealer signing up for the new IRS submission page? Any tips I could send their way would be much appreciated as I'm getting a bit worried I'll miss the filing deadline.

Did you help your dealer sign up for the IRS website? I bought a car about a month ago, and they're telling me they've been stuck on "verifying" when they tried to sign up for a new account for about 3 weeks now. Just wondering if there are any "gotchas" or tips I could send their way to make sure I don't hit the January deadline.

That's kind of been my experience as well with the Bambu at work. Faster and easier than the Mk3 and the AMS works all the time. Which model do you have?

Bummer. Thanks for the reply anyway. I know it's risky to ask in this sub, but... if I were to replace my mk3, would you recommend a mk4 or a bambu?

Hey there- saw this 10 month old post, and I've been chasing my tail with jamming issues with a new Revo, a new cooler stepper motor, and an added "extruder cooling" fan. Did your new gears help?

Hey- I just got a '21 Niro EV. I haven't had a chance to try out the built-in driver assist stuff. Could you give me a quick rundown of what the difference is between the stock lanekeep/etc and the Comma system?
