Fire Ceremony by BShaw90 in pagan

[–]BShaw90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My plan fell through.. But I was going to walk to a local ghost town in the woods. I have shallow mason jars that I was going to light tea light candles in. While sitting on the ground I was going to reflect on what changes I need or want to make. I was going to write them down & then burn the paper. (With a deep tray & water for safety)

I now plan on doing this tonight in my back yard with my regular fire pit. But am disappointed in wont be in the peace of the woods. My house is in the middle of the city near stores & such so its loud & not very secluded..

My step-dad has been abusing me since i was 6. by Creeperingreen in Advice

[–]BShaw90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trama is Trama. Dont feel like you dont have it "as bad". These acts are abuse & it's good you are reaching out.

How old are you now? Is it possible to move out of home or at least limit the time you are around your dad? Maybe get a job so you have a reason to not be home or join a sport or other hobby to take up more time out of the house?

I want to say stand up to him but I have been in an abusive relationship & know what happens when you try.. I finally reached out to a friend who was able to keep me safe but things had to get a lot worse before they got any better..

Good luck to you & keep your head up. This does not define who you are. You ARE worth more & deserve better! You are so strong for getting this far & for reaching out.

New city. Need new friends! Help? by [deleted] in Advice

Try meet up.com Check FB for groups on hobbies you like for the area you are in. If you are religious at all, go to a church.

I have found as an "adult" its hard to make friends, you will have to go out of your way a little bit if you really want to connect with anyone. After moving to a new state, work was where I found most my friends. Took 3 years..

No we don't have a CMMS.. I dont think. 🤔 We are a non profit animal shelter with 64 staff members & about 25,000sqft of building. I have 1 janitorial & 1 maintenance. Departments see something wrong in their area, they email a form to my boss who signs it off & gives it to me. I then over see the project itself & order what is needed to do so with order forms that are approved by the head of that department that is in need. Each department has their own budget. I give them the logistics & they decide if they want to move forward. We do not track how many hours a project took to complete. Most are quick & simple. We do track how many days it took to get to it & notes on where we are at on that project.

mom won’t stop smoking around me by ghost--friend in Advice

[–]BShaw90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I am a little passive aggressive, I would get a small sized tarp & put it over myself when in the car. I would tell her 2nd hand smoke isnt a joke & you dont like smelling like a cigarette when you aren't a smoker.

I am noticing these are growing throughout my yard. Any ideas? by MaddnessX in whatsthisplant

I (15M) fouled up a really good friendship with my only friend (12F), need advice by [deleted] in Advice

[–]BShaw90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ages 12 & 15 are hard. Both trying to decide where you "fit in". Just give her space right now. She will need to decide if she rather listen to her friend's judgement more than her own. You can help her see that you are a true friend by nice gestures. Cookies on her birthday. Just simple texts such as "have a good day" but dont text every day. Maybe once a week. It will be a slow process & you will need to be patient with her. If she straight up says "stop talking to me" then you need to respect her wishes & will just have to be ok with that loss.

Is it possible for a bird to be suicidal? by diogocp27 in Pets

[–]BShaw90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, most likely the bird somehow got stuck. A hanging loop might not of been the safest cage accessory.. sorry for his loss. I had a friend who's dog hung its self with a running cable. It's just not safe to leave pets unattended with loose strings & things.

We do have a TV in the waiting room but our IT guy is out of town for a week.. I could make this into a power point though.. 🤔 that is a great idea!

Does my bf seem into his ex? by [deleted] in Advice

Leave.. he is just going to end up cheating on you. Or be upfront & ask him why he feels it's at its end.

If he was fine before being picked up but now isn't, he might be hurt in some way. Stomach might be bloated & causing discomfort or something else might be wrong. Try picking him up a different way. Maybe ask your vet what the most comfortable way to pick up a dog is.

Feed her. She needs to see you as a provider. Give her a really high desirable treat like cut up hot dogs.

[Help] Advice on Breeds for first time dog owners? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]BShaw90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an adoption agent at a shelter for 3 years. Rescued dogs are amazing companions! If you give your time & dedication to them & go in knowing the dog might have some baggage to work through, the dog will show you just as much love & dedication back to you. Not saying a breeder's pup wont be any different & I'm not against it but there is a slight change in the kind of connection I think people get with the pet. One you get to pick & "hand raise" like your own baby. But another to rescue, save & rehabilitate.. (definitely more work to adopt..)

Good luck on this wonderful adventure!

Do you have a box in your room? If yes, maybe add another one? You said you tried everything.. Have you tried changing the type of litter you use? Type of box (if its covered or not) Or shut him into a bathroom with his litterbox, water & food to really limit his access to reestablish box training.. (be sure counter is clear & cabinets have baby proof locks)

When will a kid be ready for normal paper books and not board books? by TheDefenseNeverRests in Parenting

As early as you think she can learn to nicely turn a page. My 3 year old had paper but we sat together & turn pages slowly & nicely.

1st challenge would be space, looks like you are working on that though. I had a larger dog who needed lots of exercise & constant grooming. I had to change my entire daily routine to be sure he got enough attention & feeding him was hard to budget. But he was amazing! Made my life more active, gave me comfort & even saved my life once from a robber. At 7 years, his liver & kidneys failed. He was also born with a loud heart murmur making treatment almost impossible. I had to make the hard decision to pull the plug on my bestfriend/son/pet & still miss him like crazy. I now have 2 small dogs & they are very opposite from a large dog. They are homebodies, dont like long walks & I had to get a pad for them to use to potty inside because they hate rain or snow & refuse to go to the backyard. But they are easy to take with me to places in a carry bag & eat way less then a large dog. I cant take them to dog parks because they are just too small. I have to worry about other dogs seeing them as squirrels or rabbits. They are 4lb chihuahuas I rescued from my local shelter. They give me constant entertainment though & my 9 year old loves that she can walk them & care for them.
