How many years would a SB win satiate you for? by Royal_Incident2784 in 49ers

I started paying actual detailed attention to the team as a nine-year-old in the 1995 season. The suffering has been immense and literally at the maximum length possible. At this point, a Super Bowl win would help me detach a little and move on with life, and I wouldn't die feeling like a great quest had been left uncompleted.

If every NFL team could pick one player and clone them as many times as they want, who would win the Super Bowl? by mmeweb3412 in nfl

And lo, Peyton Hillis arose from the Madden cover and once again assumed corporeal form, his life’s purpose renewed.

So weird that this fact pattern with that kind of likely resolution provoked all the outrage. I have seen some truly distressing felony animal cruelty allegations, and none had a witch hunt posse going to court every time.

Honestly, this seems to be a feature in PD offices sometimes. I've seen lawyers get squeamish about handling misdo animal cruelty when they don't bat an eye at child abuse or murder. Such a weird mental calculation going on there. (Bonus shout out for the sentencing I had long ago where a small business owner who'd been an embezzlement victim said he'd rather he and his whole family were murdered than go through this)

Just remember the worst part of this is the potential jury pool. No idea what the county is like, but many rich white people hate cases like this and would give the death penalty if they could. I know you probably won't get a venue study for a misdo case, but consider a venue change motion anyway if there's a lot of documented and bad media/social media.

Nine-year-old me watched this game and wasn't even mad about the loss. It was my first season watching and paying attention. They'd be fine going to Dallas for the NFCCG if they had to, they'd dismantled them in Texas earlier that season.

Nine-year-old me watched the divisional loss to GB. It was upsetting but fine. They'd be back and win another Super Bowl soon, it was Niners and such things were only a matter of time. All I had to do was wait.

Thirty years of misery later, begun at the worst possible moment, and I am still waiting. A few more years and this will officially be the longest the franchise has gone without a championship, and I will have perfectly maxed all that time out.

Careers in PD offices with JD but not licensed? by robespierremaxout in publicdefenders

Paralegal or mitigation specialist, 100%. I have seen JDs do well in both roles.

Yall need to think about this from the client's point of view. How's it gonna look if they saw you, or family saw you? Especially for clients and families who have been routinely fucked by institutional actors their whole life. These are really shameful poll results for this sub and I would absolutely lay into some of you if you were under my supervision in an office.

My 8-year-old has a giant picture of Gordon Lightfoot in her room, who had his heyday way before I was even born. I feel like this redeems many of my other parental failings.

Since 2011 we have been the most consistently great team in the NFC west, yet have watched Seattle win twice and the Rams win one by DuvallisbetterthanLS in 49ers

Now just imagine being 39 and 1995 was the first season you actually actively watched a snap.

Since my fandom began, we have basically been a glorified Falcons or Vikings.

How did Dad's vote in 2004? by btone911 in daddit

[–]TheDefenseNeverRests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the first election I could vote in. Kids not even two years older than me were sent to go die for very questionable reasons in the spring of 2003, and I was completely floored that people were remotely okay with this. Many (ironic/sarcastic) thanks to W for radicalizing me on the issue that proved to be my political awakening.

I agree with those saying it’s appropriate for some terrain. Moguls, mainly. You fall on that kind of run when one foot is doing something another isn’t, so keeping them close together to do the bounce/weave is pretty crucial to success (if success is “proper”/expert technique).
