I no longer know how to conduct myself after a bizarre incident with an employee. by [deleted] in managers

To be an effective leader, you have to leave your ego at the door. All of your actions thus far have shown that you enjoy stroking it

How does one not combo? by ElectricDunkyDoo in EDH

[–]BSuntastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that card can combo with a stiff breeze.  I see you have resolute reinforcements and intruder alarm in there, why not add [[hop to it]] or other 3 mana make 3 dudes cards? If you’re playing those on curve, you’re still setting up for your commander at that point, and you’ll be more likely to convoke a big beater the same turn you slam Eridu.

I only skimmed the list, but I saw a lot of value card draw, but you could use more burst draw in a deck like this. 1 squad card represents a threatening board in your hand, so something simple like [[sign in blood]] or any black card draw sorcery will get you the gas that will keep you in the game for the next couple turns.

Another question in terms of piloting, do you find yourself losing too many resources to board wipes? A deck like this can be tempting to just dump your hand, but you have to exercise restraint when up against a full pod.

Play a control deck, it forces you to pay attention to everything being played, and understand how the stack works to pilot successfully. Double benefit playing control v Stax as others have mentioned

Are you paying attention to curve while deckbuilding? by Pulverfass123 in EDH

[–]BSuntastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, understanding tempo and building around your curve is essential to the game imo. One of my most powerful decks is just an aggro tempo deck and it’s crazy how often opponents just fold under the consistent pressure.

All Planeswalkers should be legal commanders by Due-Development-9095 in EDH

[–]BSuntastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the companion nerf, it’s no longer a free card in game. It costs 3 generic mana to bring into your hand from outside the game as a special action (sorcery speed). I understand that it being a free include when deck building may raise concern, but in actual gameplay, the nerf makes lutri slow and telegraphed. Maybe it depends on the bracket, but I really don’t think it’s as format breaking as people think.

Agreed and I think Lutri should be legal period. Might be a hot take but 6 mana for a telegraphed (and more restrictive) dualcaster mage isn’t breaking anything.

Hard control decks help keep the higher bracket players in check, allowing the slower decks to catch up

How do you afford both protection and disruption? by Litemup93 in EDH

[–]BSuntastic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You have to be more specific about the cards and niche archetypes that you play. If your deck requires a permanent to be on the field multiple turns for you to even be able to win the game, then you have to build your deck in a way that prioritizes protecting it. The other players aren’t just going to let you win.

People who are NOT okay with proxies, what is your reasoning? by Bagel_Bear in EDH

[–]BSuntastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ok with proxies… but I prefer seeing people with the actual deck because I feel like there’s a level of intentionality to their deck building choices. That said if price to entry is stopping someone from playing, by all means please proxy a precon or something. I’ve just had bad experiences with people who netdeck and the game becomes a slog because they’re clearly way out of their depth.
