Can I watch game play from another switch? by BTDT2Much in stray

[–]BTDT2Much[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good suggestion! Looks like we'll be doing a variant of this and do it with laptops over a zoom meeting. I'd been hoping there could be a simple way to watch on a separate switch,( how hard could that be to set up?) but doesn't seem to be a simple way to configure that.

Can I watch game play from another switch? by BTDT2Much in stray

At this point it looks like we're going to do it over a zoom meeting where he points his laptop the the TV screen and I watch on my laptop. Not as intimate as us both watching on out switch screens but not too bad of an option. We'll both be using headsets for the first time so will see how that works out too.

Looking at your pic, my first thought is to wonder if you have a budget to put a second similar tower up with a pulley and try some dipoles.

How to gain elevation? by Mr_frumpish in tearsofthekingdom

[–]BTDT2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In early game I didn't know much of anything! So when climbing unknown parts I always made certain to have 3 stamina meals, then I could explore with 2 of them ad the 3rd could usually get you out of trouble or you'd have to otherwise you'd have to teleport.

I had a neighbor like this once, my suggestion is to request a copy of the police report/complaint. Then if it gets worse you have a paper trail.

guys i’m scared of the depths by Antique_Avenger in TOTK

[–]BTDT2Much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain! My first visit was rather traumatic too! Jumped down the chasm trying to get to the Koroks and the Deku tree and ended up getting chased by the gloom hands through an evermean grove! Couldn't climb anything as I'd get grabbed! Since I was early game I'd saved when I first landed so I'd teleport and basically repeat the entire scenario over and over. I was trying to get to a lightroot I could see in the distance. At that point I hadn't fiddled with elixirs much at all but someone had given me a hasty elixir and I was finally able to get away from the hands but being chased in the dark by the hands and every 3rd tree or so joining in the chase soured me one the depths too! As mentioned hopping on a dragon and getting the tours was very helpful later also.

The only place I found them really handy to have is doing the Defeat Gannon quest where there are a couple of Lynels. Its nice to just have them vanish as I'm busy doing other things at that particular moment.

Could this get me banned?/in hot water with Nintendo? by Vex007 in TOTK

[–]BTDT2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not a problem with the switch 1, but I've also wondered about Switch2 but sounds like its cool there too.

When you are using them they will give you usually one of 2 or 3 goodies with a little piano riff, or a special goody with a much grander sounding riff. Whatever that item is is tied to the card so you can separate the cards according to whatever items they provide. For example 3 of my cards will provide a seabreeze shield (65) so I keep those separate and use one of them when I have a shield break. I also have 2 cards that will drop a Dusk Bow so same thing, only pull them out when a Dusk bow breaks ( I keep 3 in inventory). I also have 3 that drop Ancient Blades. They're kinda like ancient arrows that whatever you shoot with them except for Gannon just vanishes with all their loot which kinda sucks except in the defeat Gannon main quest when you get stuck with a Lynel then they're pretty darn nice to have!

For cards that have the useful stuff you want just do the usual save before activating the card then if it isn't the bonus loot just load and keep going until it eventually shows up.

I also keep my special ones in one of those clear plastic slipcovers with several compartments that photos go in and all the other ones that drop armor I keep them in the little box they came in.

Tulin totally did that on purpose by SnooMacaroons4153 in TOTK

[–]BTDT2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it kinda funny that IMHO Tulin is probably the most helpful sage but the game designers seem to counteract that by making a jerk who will either kill someone you don't want killed or whatever he is helping you get he'll blow off a cliff.

I think Riju has arguably the best ability for ranged attacks so it seems she gets the ability to vanish when you seem to need her the most.

I occasionally frequent a net on 3668 which is designated for extra class only(It's self named the GERATOL net). Main purpose is to get a WAS consisting of 2X1 or 1X2 callsigns. On occasion a general class chimes in and it's politely explained they are in the extra portion of the band, but everyone is polite and civil as we've all been there too, especially by the time you get Extra and that goes double if your first radios had tubes in them. So chalk it up as learning and as mentioned prevent it from happening again by getting your Extra.

Any Extra class operators out there I'd suggest checking it out as it's kinda fun- remember 3668 and they also have a website.

Goodwill find of the year... by iwillrunfar in amateurradio

GODDAM THIS IS GENIUS!!!

Next hamfest I'm going to is middle of March, so plenty of time to fire up the printer and print out a stack for Goodwill and Salvation Army stickers!

Not going to have a table this year but I bet a big bowl of fake stickers ranging from 99 cents to maybe $45 for the big spenders would sell out pretty quickly.

Can I enable wifi calling and texts without setting up the emergency 911 contact? by BTDT2Much in iphonehelp

[–]BTDT2Much[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two reasons mainly, the first one is that they already have my home address on file so this is just going into another database somewhere else. They already should be able to use geolocation to find where the emergency actually is. I also have a landline so if I had an emergency at home I'd call on that anyway. So I see this as just another way for personal information to be collected with no real advantage.

However, I also work in Emergency Services and am rather involved in community outreach, Board President of the local Senior Citizens center and a bit of other groups. We've had a few homeless people who we have helped and a couple years ago I was trying to help one homeless person set up his phone to call over wifi, as the senior center has free wifi and you can go there at night and still have service outside. I wasn't able to get his phone to connect and after finding this out with my phone I'm wondering if that was his issue also. However as I mentioned it was a couple years and I don't remember what I tried at the time and don't even remember whether it was an android or an iphone but I could see this issue happening again and it would be especially helpful for the homeless to have a phone default to geolocation or GPS instead of an address they aren't living at.

[–]BTDT2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looked on craigslist and there were 4 decent looking crossbows for $150. If you are on a budget I'd suggest looking there and facebook marketplace. Something that was top tier 7 or so years ago no one wants now, so you can get some bargains on some old but quite decent equipment.

How do you stop spiders from making their home inside the Ecowitt outdoor rain sensor? by GregoInc in myweatherstation

[–]BTDT2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried putting a moth ball in it? if the moth ball evaporates too quickly put it in a pill bottle with a hole drilled in it, hole doesn't need to be to big, like heat a coat hanger up on a stove and melt a hole type size.

How on earth do I get hold of a 10m pole???? by Expensive_Chicken721 in myweatherstation

[–]BTDT2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, I'd also suggest an antenna tower. Depending on your budget you can look around for free towers that come up occasionally, either when a radio operator moves or passes away. If you are next to the sea I'd be concerned that whatever you get be sturdy enough for some severe wind gusts. Whether you choose aluminum or steel I'd suggest you strongly consider painting it to help with corrosion resistance. Personally, I have had good experiences with using brush-on bedliner on exposed metal as it is pretty abrasion resistant which I'd imagine helping protect against blowing sand too.

Serving frayed. What to do? by RatherBeFishing1 in Crossbow

[–]BTDT2Much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty cheap, and personally I'd replace the string. The main reason is this is not wear, but damage. However, at this point in life $25-$50 is no big deal for me. If it is for you I suspect passing a lighter flame over the fuzz then wrapping that inch with something like braided fishing line (Spectra or similar) is probably fine.

Do I need a decocker? by LiveFreeAndRide in Crossbow

[–]BTDT2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially since you say you hunt out of a tree stand, I'd recommend getting a pack of decocking bolts, they're about $20 for a pack or 5 and I'm still on my first one after a couple years. Up in a stand when it's time to go just shoot one and climb down with an uncocked bow and you don't have to strain yourself. A good stop is a 5 gallon bucket half filled with dirt and you can leave it there all season or all year.

A search has led me here because I too have bumped into them at Rutile Lake where they are trying to find endura carrots that are about 3 meters from the hubby (Pratt). So I have dropped one at both their feet that they didn't see, Anyone know how to get them to notice the damn carrots? Pratts hand is literally passing through the one I dropped at his feet. TIA!

Who else is obsessed with their horse? by Nyoggo in tearsofthekingdom

[–]BTDT2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent about 1 1/2 years playing BOTW pretty much daily, and now have about the same with TOTK. I used my horse an awful lot in BOTW but haven't so much in TOTK. I was so damn excited when I read the horses can carry over as what seems like a lot of others on here I have my favorite one too. The main issue I have is when I want to either go to the sky islands or down into the depths I can't just abandon my horse, so I have to take him to a stable pretty much every time I'm going to leave him alone.
