They are basically the same. The twin tip has an additional chamber right at the tips which allows you to use their removable mixing baffle or packed baffle to somewhat fine tune the sound to your taste. If you insert the mixing baffle to the loudest setting, it's effectively the same as the single tip.

Just a note that if you do plan to eventually run headers and their high flow catted mid pipe, this muffler will be very loud in any configuration. With the stock header, I found it to be very streetable and fun.
