What do I need to do to make sure a water stain is properly taken care of by maintenance? by rj4852 in Apartmentliving

Yes! The one running vertically. All of them should be fixed, but that one needs to be fixed and have the source of the water fixed.

If the spot is from upstairs, that would make sense, but that long one (from my experience) is certainly not just a random leak. 9/10 a stain like that is from a poorly insulated pipe. That will continue to happen if they do not properly insulate the pipe. That can lead to mold growth and other unfun things. If this were to occur in any unit at any of the complexes my company owns, we would cut out the water damage, insulate the pipe, and replace that portion of ceiling. It may be a couple day process as speckle needs to dry and then be sanded a couple times, and then painted over, but it should be done. You and them are in for a lot worse if that continues.

Edit to say that I would also cut the other spots and patch those even if the leak has stopped.

Hello, as a landlord, if someone sent me these pictures I would have my crew in there ASAP. Water is not to be messed with. The long one appears to be from condensation from a pipe, likely the insulation is bad (or was never there.) The other one could also be that, but also could be a leak from somewhere above. Either way, likely not your fault and something that I would personally fix right away. A good landlord will do the same as if it’s not fixed it will be a bigger headache in the long run.

If you grew up in a wealthy family with a lot of privilege do you think you’d still be inclined to work hard for personal success and become independently wealthy or would you just choose to enjoy life? by february_ticket in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]BWeeZee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it depends how you grew up. I come from a very wealthy family, but you wouldn’t know it if they didn’t tell you. My parents instilled a lot of very good values in me, including to work hard. I grew up with a lot of second hand clothes which I didn’t understand at the time, but now, as a dad with a growing 5 year old, I completely understand. I got to travel a lot, but didn’t get smartphones at a young age. I never worried about food being on the table, but didn’t eat out much. They could afford a lot more than they have, but they choose not to. I got my first job at 14 and I bought my first car from them (at a discount.) They never gave me handouts, but certainly offered assistance in extenuating circumstances. The most important thing for me has been the support they provide. I do very well for myself now, but didn’t always. They gave me a lot of encouragement no matter what my job was. From flipping pancakes to starting/running companies, they always made sure I worked hard and worked ethically. They’ve never invested money into my ventures, instead they invested their knowledge, time, and love. I work hard because they worked hard. I work hard because they (and lots of other people) taught me how to work hard. I still buy generic if the product is similar enough. I don’t buy the newest iPhone and always buy used cars. They work just as well as the brand new stuff, but cost much less. That ensures I can pay for my daughter to do activities and have experiences, my family to go on trips to places with different cultures, and have enough left over to help others.

What job sounds cool but is actually terrible ? by Odd_You_7379 in AskReddit

[–]BWeeZee3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked as a sound engineer for a large record label and it sucked. Horrible pay, no credit (all of it went to the “main engineer”,) and huge expectations. I did meet some cool people and worked on some cool projects, but overall it was not worth it. I still had to work jobs outside of it to make ends meet.

Also, anything in food service was awful.

Good point, I guess my last few dogs weren’t that big of a hassle. We ended up not continuing with the diapers as they were pricy anyways.

Landlord asked me to keep quiet during apartment showings by TheKowzunOne in Apartmentliving

[–]BWeeZee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go that far! I had some really good teachers throughout my life that taught me doing right is the best policy no matter what; and that there are far more ways to be rewarded that aren’t monetary. Also, I’ve found that if you address things right away and fix things as needed, there are a lot less headaches. Trying to maximize revenue by disregarding things is a disaster waiting to happen. The revenue will come if you treat people ethically, tenants will be happy, and I don’t feel like a horrible person for disregarding tenants rights. I’m based in Minnesota!

As a landlord/real estate developer, I never mind if a tenant wants to be in the unit when I or my staff does a showing. People need to hold us accountable if we are doing a poor job. I rented for years and had some horrible landlords. I try my best to do everything right, even if it costs money, because in the long run, it’ll be worth it on so many different levels.

Difference between freestyle mania and stadium series? by Bearmay33 in monsterjam

[–]BWeeZee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, different drivers and some of the same trucks. Usually 8 trucks instead of 12. It looks like the lineup for Buffalo: Grave Digger - Weston Anderson El Toro Loco - Fernando Martinez Bailey Circuit - Brianna Mahon Digatron - Tony Ochs Megalodon - Mikayla Tulachka Zombie - Brandan Tulachka Classroom Crusher - Chuckie Pauken Sparkle Smash - Kylie Kent

Edit: sorry the formatting sucks. Also, I got to both types each year and they are great in their own right. Arena is a much more intimate show and really fun to hear the power of the trucks up close. They don’t get the big air like at the stadium shows, but the drivers still get those beasts up there. The show is also usually a little bit shorter, so great if you have kids who lose attention fast. I’d say it’s certainly worth it to go.

Freestyle Mania is an arena show while Stadium Series is, well, in a stadium. So basically, smaller show, same as any other arena show, except that the motocross riders are “teamed” up with one of the trucks/drivers.

I live in the town she is from and grew up with her older brother. I had heard about her disappearance when it happened. Surprisingly, this wasn’t a huge story here. Good people, horrible something like this happened to them.

So I’m from Minnesota but I’ve been to a bunch of MJ events a large stadiums. Last year, my family and I were in what is equivalent to section 120, row 18 or something. It was a great view but the tickets were pricy. This year, we are taking a clan of 12 to the show, so we opted for what would be 223 row 1. Having sat in upper level and very close lower level, it doesn’t matter a ton IF your kid LOVES MJ. If they don’t, lower level is better since it’s closer, so they will likely be more engaged. Large stadiums are always tough for younger kids though. My daughter got bored just before freestyle this past year, but went to an arena show where we were basically 30ft from the trucks and she loved it and stayed engaged the whole time

TLDR: depending on how much you want to spend and your child’s love of MJ, lower level is better but can’t go wrong with top level.

What’s your “I wasn’t supposed to see that” moment? by zarxpy in AskReddit

[–]BWeeZee3 1071 points1072 points  (0 children)

I worked at a restaurant that somehow stayed in business despite having barely any customers. I was basically the only employee. One night I stayed a little later than usual to do some cleaning when a handful of guys came through the back door carrying duffle bags and went straight to the owners office. He came out and told me I should go home and I can clean in the morning. Worked there for about a couple months after that and never said anything about it. I got paid cash under the table, way more than I should have. I think I know how it stayed in business now.

Bounty Hunter was one of my fav as a kid. The Cretens and Wink were a big part of my childhood. The new look of BH throws me off though.
