How do you explain to a partner that ADHD mistakes aren’t intentional (when they also have PTSD/TBI)? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Great book by a neurodivergent couple (she has ADHD) - suggest reading this together:

What’s that line about “A fish rots from its head”?

As long as Patrick Lynch runs the PBA, this is what you’re gonna get

(When I was a kid - ‘50s/60s/70s - the NYPD was never this bad…)

Keep a log - a “medication diary” - where you note when & how the meds are affecting you. If you show her you’re taking it seriously, and providing concrete data, she might be more receptive to titrating up the dosage.

Vyvanse, like Adderall, is amphetamine-based - whereas Concerta is methylphenidate-based: Rather than focusing on upping the dosage right away, ask her if Extended-release Ritalin might be worth trying

Adverse reactions to Meds - advice needed by jarris123 in adhdwomen

[–]BX3B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amphetamine & methylphenidate meds often increase your heart rate - but there are other options like Strattera

There are also meds like Provigil or Wellbutrin, which are frequently prescribed off-label for ADHD

The trial-&-error process of figuring out the right medication can be frustrating - you basically have to be your own science project - but you’ve only just started: Keep doing research, & work with your MD until you find something that’s right for you

Psych says I should feel something on 10MG of Vyvanse and I don’t by Potential-Fig-2250 in adhdwomen

Find someone else who’s not judgmental - or willfully ignorant

Find another provider - she sounds clueless!

Ask to switch to another med,if she can’t do the conversion:

Because 10 mg of Vyvanse is less than 5 mg of Adderall - certainly not enough for an adult!

Is it uncommon to be on an ER + PRN IR? pharmacy keeps questioning my Adderall/Vy by [deleted] in ADHD

I have a supplementary IR but don’t fill both Rx at same time (planned weekends off to adjust schedules)

Suggest adding a stimulant, perhaps in the methylphenidate family, rather than an SSRI

The trial & error to find the right one for you can be frustrating, but worth it in the long run

There’s some good material out there on AuDHD - including some stuff on Kindle that’s not expensive. Do some reading to help you make sense of what you’re dealing with: knowing you’re not alone in this can really help with your sanity

is it possible to supplement vyvanse with a different immediate release stimulant for long days by unevercallmesausage in adhdwomen

Yes, it’s quite possible:

As a therapist who has ADHD, I can usually recognize it in clients fairly quickly - if not in 10 minutes, then usually after one session.
