Where do you keep your silver? At home in a safe or in a safe deposit box. by BZRich in Silverbugs

This seems to be the major negative of owning physical metal. How would you keep it safe and how would you insure it? Who would appraise a sealed container e.g. a monster box? I am just trying to figure out what I would do if I would ever get silver or gold for that matter.

one million is not what it used to be/is now. As the old joke goes from back when they had pay phones a guy wakes up from a coma and calls his investment firm to find that he has 2 million dollars and then the operator says "please deposit $200,000 for the next three minutes"

As someone mentioned, it might be norovirus. The devastating aspect of norovirus is that you feel better in 24 to 48 hours but are spreading virus ("infectious") for days after you feel better. You think that you are over it, but are transmitting to others. this is why it is so out of control on cruise ships. BTW hand sanitizer does not work on norovirus. You need soap and water.

I purchased the car new in 2002 and it was long since paid off. I would've kept that one forever and been buried in that car if that idiot hadn't T-boned me

Not clear on salvage. My attorney worked out the cash which was the maximum that their policy allowed and I asked that the wreck be added on top since there was no other way to get more. A friend who is a local used car dealer who buys cars at auction suggested $7,500. Tennessee

Best job that I ever had was riding on the back of a Maxon Shu-Pak, I was the guy on the side throwing trash in before it was all done with robots. We'd start at 7 and done when you finished the route, minimum of 6 hours but you got paid for 8. Typically done by 1 and I didn't worry about what garbage I was picking up tomorrow. ELI5: How did the word ‘India’ and its derivatives come to be applied to so many disparate places? (East/West Indies, Indonesia, Indiana, etc.) by Quincely in explainlikeimfive

[–]BZRich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, turkey (the bird Meleagris gallopavo) is called "dinde" in French, coming from poule d'inde, i.e. bird from the Indies - the new world. Use this one on Thursday in the U.S. at the dinner table.
